These Argentinian politicians do not understand diplomacy !

The sensible thing to do would have been ignore it, but no, they wade in and make a mountain out of a molehill - “offend the memory and office of a dead person, unable to reply or defend himself”

Though it does all go to prove that support the other SA counties give in their public statements to CFK is not really what they are thinking !

I dont think you meant abysmal - that would suggest that you think the difference is inexcusable and wrong.

”The difference is abyssal“ as in ”so very very deep“ or ”as deep as you can go” would work though.

As a big admirer of Pepe I must say I'm a bit dissapointed here, especially so soon after Cristina gave him a free lift to the Chavez funeral on Tango 1, surely the act of a friend and of a friendly country. Btw I agree Cristina is more stubborn, less of a politicain, than Nestor - but I like that about her =) To call her the old lady is surely the cruelest cut, and so innacurate! And aint that a little bit of an insult from a guy like Pepe - as if he's a spring chicken. But, you know, these things happen, and its not going to stop them both building the alternative to failed austerity in their respective countries; comrades don't actually always have to love each other =) For evidence, lookat what Uruguy's been saying about the Falklans referendum =)

Cristina still 'wears the weeds' and 'carries her cross' for Nestor, her long-deceased husband and ex-president.

Puts a whole new meaning on that phrase from the Christian hymn:
    “.. Gladly, thy cross-eyed bear.”

    ........................
other children's understandings, just for fun:
    * “The pistol of a flower is its only protection against insects.”
    * “The alimentary canal is located in the northern part of Indiana.”
    * “Equator: A menagerie lion running around the Earth through Africa.”
    * “Germinate: To become a naturalized German.”

@27 “Old lady” doesn't really have the same impact as “old hag”. Though it's still an understatement.

La vieja means the old [female]. In order for it to be an insult, you need certain substantives to follow the statement. Tuerto is worse though, Nestor was, and is, so much more than that.
And regarding the two nations politics in human rights, la Kirchner has more balls than the entire Uruguayan gabinete :)

I agree it wasn't with love, but look for the positives.

@30 What I was referring to was the fact that one of his aides then said “she doesn't know what she is doing”. The general jist of the converstaion (and the piss-taking ouf of the Pope present) was generally negative and, as such, the use of “vieja” was not supposed to be positive.

The comment about Mujica having to be eternally grateful because CFK gave him a lift in Tango 1 is ridiculous. Didn't she leave him there when she left BEFORE the funeral? The story is she was ordered home by her doctors who stated she could not stand in the hot sun for 6 hours - and not because her face would melt - she is a lot sicker than the Argentine government is prepared to admit publicly.

I'm still unclear why you think I'm getting a spoonful of my own medicine. I didn't say anything about Argentinians and haven't said anything about you except that you were confused, which you still are.

As for Shed-time's comment (7), it appears IMHO to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to the views of other SA countries to Argentina. Saying “no-one likes an Argie” in that context isn't racist or an incitement to hatred. I read it as humorous hyperbole related to the fact that CDK's nearest ally revealed what he truly thinks of her i.e. if that's what her friends think then what must her enemies think?

@61 the actual phrase is 'no one trusts an argie', which would be equally as universally true as 'no one likes argies'. The fact is, argentines don't do anything worth trusting them for. The Chileans know this, the Uruguayans know this, the Falkland Islanders know this, the Paraguayans know this, and that just leaves Brazil, which finds you more than a bit annoying.

Latin American chauvenism is racism, because it's based on one race (latino) thinking it's much better, whilst also being poor and uneducated. Argentines are a genetic combination of no indigenous (you killed them all), lazy spanish, corrupt italian, and fascist german, so it's hardly about race.

You know, I used to be on Argentina's side of this whole mess, years ago, when I first moved to Uruguay. But then as time went by, I watched how Cristina treated Uruguay, and my opinion of them lowered a lot....but I was still on their side of the Falklands/Malvinas dispute. Then I traveled their country, tip to tip, and saw how full of hate they are, how they blame everyone else for their problems, and how utterly fucked their economy and government is.

So then I thought they don't deserve to manage those islands. It'd just be more wasted land and people, added to the continual decline that is Argentina.

Even then, I thought not all Argentines are garbage, you can't judge a whole country just by traveling it or 3 months tip to tip and talking to so many of them all over the country. But if you talk to any of them long enough, they'll ALL eventually bring the conversation around to how USA/UK is to blame for all their problems, and the Malvinas, and how Argentina is actually a good place to invest(absolute nonsense to anyone who isn't totally braindead/washed).

And even when I meet them abroad, outside their own country, even those Argies are arrogant and annoying, and blame everyone else. I absolutely can't fucking stand them as an entire race anymore. The whole fuckin lot are human GARBAGE! It's incredible to me, that an ENTIRE country can be garbage, I've never seen that anywhere else in the world, and I've traveled a LOT. Congradulations Argentina, you've achieved 100 percent garbage status!

Now that we see the picture a little better, one truly has to feel for Uruguay. They have the British complaining about Argentina being truly sh!t, but the majority of the UK isn't next to Argentina. Chile also must be absolutely beside itself with lack of sympathy for British complaints, given that they also have the Argentines trying to steal things and behave badly.

I think he should have gone on the record and called her out for being what she truly is, a ghoulish old hag.

    ”Not at all Troy.
    Do you hate the Argentines?

I'm just feeding you with the same spoon here. Try treating others like you want to be treatedyourself (no, religion has no copyright on morals).“

    Stevie

”feeding you with the same spoon”??

Your statements suggested that you DO hate Brits, but as you requested, if I had any questions as to your convictions, I should ask you directly.

That is what I did, rather than make a supposition, I let you state things clearly.

On the other hand, I have on several occasions stated on Mercopress that I do not hate the Argentinian people. At the same time, I also stated that I did not like CFK, her Ministers, her Government, and the paid Trolls who spread anti-Brit and anti-Falkland lies and propaganda.

As to religion, I agree, they have no copyright on morals. However, there are charitable activities that they sponsor, whether you believe this to be tainted by self-interest or not.

You condemned the Church, and everything they do and say, as a package.
You seem to resent the Church greatly (do you?). That seems to be trait of Communists, historically. Is that why you dislike them, or is it just personal opinion?

The Church is irrelevant - it was only mentioned in reference to their estimation of what % of the Argentine population was living in poverty. The Church is likely to know firsthand, because they work with them.

Is it possible that you just wanted to discredit the poverty figures that the Church was presenting???

As a personal observation, you seem very angry about all this.

British people are funny. Their arguments here are based primarily on Cristina's looks, as is if that has anything to do with anything. I wouldn't be chest beating on that if I was British, being that Argentinean women are known for being beautiful, and british women, well, for having crooked teeth. I'm not saying that is fact, but it the common perception. The incident of what Mujica said has little relevance, it was caught in the microphone and that's the only reason it became news. Or do you people think that behind closed doors those comments aren't common? Grow up. “Vieja” is not an insult, but then again, what to expect from language impaired brits who only speak their native language? Stupid comments for what they are, the deeply in-love sexual partners Bush and Blair easily beat any Latin American president if stupid comments were a merit. Do you brits ever stop to think why most of the world doesn't like you? Do you realize that in Latin America you are seen as pirates in decline and puppets of the US? Not even the rest of Europe likes you very much. Heck, not even Scotland wants to have anything to do with the UK anymore. You talk about Cristina, but what country still has a troll as a queen? God save the queen huh? Grow up, monarchies are things of the past. Keep on hating Latin America you losers, and good luck with all the angry people around the world that would be happy to set off some more bombs in the UK.

“I can assure you more SA people likes Argentinians than Brits. Difference is abysmal.”

abysmal in general usage will be regarded as meaning - very bad.

in context this makes the sentence ambiguous and can mean either “its a very bad thing that they are different” or “the difference is very bad/deep/large”. (meaning..what?)

both are ambiguous...at best, but common usage will be ”very bad relating to negativity toward the attitude, rather than the difference.

Assuming you actually wanted to higlight the difference in NUMBERS... then a correct usage would be to re-write the entire sentence so that it is unambiguous: (caps)

“Far more SAs hate the British than hate Argentines”.
“The number of SAs who hate the British is far greater than those who hate Argentines”.

    Unambiguous meaning you see?

“”“You lot are trying to make this look as proof of the division of our nations”“”

I think it is indicative that the “supposed” 100% “we're all in agreement over everything” claims that tend to come from the Argentine Government and certain supporters on this website, are somewhat less than 100% agreement in everything.

I think it was mistake to get riled by it, ignoring it altogether would ahve reduced it to a 1-day/1-hour funny, making a big incident out of it catapulted it into international news.

But that is, regardless of whatever “slot” you want to put me in, pretty typical of Argentine International politics: the current Argentine Government (and its ambassadors) are a bunch of loud-mouthed amateurs.

I don't meant that nastily, although i do mean it derogatorily : they really are and act like, a bunch of amateurs.

I think, not being Argentine, that their “style” must go down well in the homeland, because it plays out very badly in “the western world”... well, Europe/North America etc....

But my impression gathered from this website, if nowhere else, is that most of what Argentinian Governments do id primarily aimed at specific sectors of the Argentine voting population...and with little, or no, regard to how it plays-out on the International stage.

Whether that in itself is good, or bad, is a matter of personal opinion, but it certainly highlights something of note.

    Not at all.

Communism is an ideology that is based on that the human need comes before greed. As an ideology it talks about no state, a society where everybody produce what they can and consume what they need. The ideas are taken mainly from Marx and Lenin.

Marxism is an economical study, a sociologic study of the impacts of capitalism and an attempt to offer a solution from a point of view of the collectivity.

Marxism is a study in the impacts of capitalism on society. It's something you believe in, not something you apply.
Thing with Marxism is that is says capitalism will eventually lead to communism, by the risening of the people.
It speaks about classes and the division of them, the burgoise, the proletarians, the lumpens, the landlords.
Furthermore is says technology will change the means of production in such a degree, the “petit burgoise” (small businesses) would ultimately become proletarians, destroying the middle class. This would lead to a social revolution that, with time and evolution, would lead to socialism and eventually capitalism.
The only solution it offers, is the question if there is any reason to wait for that revolution. The problem being the awareness of the classes.

Everyone loves socialism, especially poor people whose only legacy is knocking out another copy of their unemployable genetics every year. However, the issue with socialism is someone/something has to pay for it. So in a country like Norway you can make the gas pay for it. In a country like 'England' most of the corporate entities are actually based out of Republic of Ireland or Luxembourg for tax reasons, therefore no one can actually pay for socialism.

In the People's Republic of Scotland most people work for HM gov or are unemployed, so once they're independent they'll realise that nothing exists to pay for socialism and they'll descend into some kind of civil war.

@145 why would anything improve in a monarchy when the Prime Minister would be a Peronist and the Parliament would be Peronist as well? Even if we wanted a monarchy (we don't) we wouldn't join the Commonwealth anyway.

@147 well, Socialism IS about bleeding the rich dry to give everything to the poor. The problem with Socialism is that either the rich try to avoid paying taxes (thanks to corporations) or the government becomes corrupt and steals everything. And of course, that the poor become parasites who vote parasites.

@150 Ah yes. That would be after the first round matches when argieland was formally cautioned by FIFA for its violent style, particularly in the scoreless draw with West Germany, that saw Rafael Albrecht sent off and suspended for the next match. But you refer to the quarter-final that saw Antonio Rattin sent off for bad-mouthing the referee and where he had to be escorted away by the police. But then there was 1986, with the cheating Maradona and his “Hand of God”. Maradona himself admitted in his autobiography that it had been deliberate and revenge for argieland having been beaten shitless in the Falklands War. The 1998 World Cup was notable for the double foul of Diego Simeone on David Beckham. Then there was the 2002 World Cup where England beat argieland in the first round and saw the argies go home. Then there was the 2005 “friendly” that saw argieland beaten 3-2. Statistically, out of 15 matches, England has won 6 times, there have been 5 draws and argieland has won twice. Through cheating and foul play. In 3 matches held in argieland, they haven't won once. In 6 matches in England, England has won 4 and drawn 2. Not really a particularly good argie record, is it? Seems like argies approach everything the same way. Cheating, lying and violence. Although, as usual, it doesn't get them very far!

Ah, more clear indication of the effect of viveza criolla, absolutely no proof, and a paranoid former captain who is a disgrace to the game and his nation. I believe this is the worst case of unsportsman like conduct I am aware off. Playing by the rules according to Argentina's definition is allowing Maradona's “hand of God conduct”. No wonder the Brits can't be bothered wasting their time with you.

    VivezaCCriolla

    Viveza criolla includes:
1.lack of respect for others and indifference to the common good in a framework of individual interests.[3]
2.political corruption, which extends in all institutions, in the form of perks, direct appropriation of public funds, favoritism, misallocation of state resources, etc.[3]
extreme individualism, with mistrust of others and little ability to partner and cooperate in community goals.[3] (Interpersonal trust is a key component of social capital, which is crucial for economic development and proper functioning of democratic institutions.)[3]
3.Anomie or weakening of the common morality, and social deviance as behavior that departs from generally accepted standards in society.[3]
4.The habit of blaming problems on someone else, thereby encouraging paranoia and granting a permit to self-indulgence.[3

@165 If you claim that as an example of viveza criolla then you don't seem to know what the term means. Maradona fundamentally using his hands to push the ball into the net is viveza criolla, because he ignored the rules and used that as a method of winning, as is his apparent lack of ability to pay taxes on his earnings.

However, viveza criolla is an important part of Argentine culture, which is why during war other countries have to sink their boats in order to get them to give up and run home, because argies think it's not fair.

Ignoring the Burden of Proof, that is asserting without proof simply reveals you as a proven liar under the rules of debate.

    http://learn.lexiconic.net/fallacies/index.htm

    Logical Fallacies

    Ignoring the Burden of Proof:

Generally speaking, he who asserts must prove. An assertion is a statement offered as a conclusion without supporting evidence. Since an argument is defined as a logical relationship between premise and conclusion, a simple assertion is not an argument. Writers sometimes forget this, and their articles can be littered with assertion after assertion. In the end, the duty to support an assertion is on the writer, not the reader (like the burden of proof is on the accuser in court, rather than the accused).

3 of the goals came after both Uruguayans were sent off for no other reason than being Uruguayan. If I'm wrong, you tell me the reason.
The obvious penalty happened when it stood 0-0 and if the ref didn't see it, he was watching another game. The hands is so obvious, you can clearly see it in that old footage. The ref was English.

Same thing happened to Argentina vs England. Rattín sent off for being Argentine. Or as the ref said himself “Violence of the tongue”, disregarding the fact that Rattín didn't speak German or English, as little as the ref spoke Spanish.

I repeat, the only thing in football England has won, they've done it by cheating.

@181 right so in you fooked up theory of conspiricy how does this rate in your single minded thoughts.
Brazil and Argentina then played out a tense and violent goalless draw, so both teams went into the last round of matches with three points. Argentina delayed the kick-off of its last match to await the result of the Brazil-Poland encounter. Brazil won by a 3-1 score, meaning Argentina had to beat Peru by four clear goals to reach the final. The hosts managed to do it with what some saw as a suspicious degree of ease. Trailing 2–0 at half-time, Peru simply collapsed in the second half, and Argentina eventually won 6–2. Rumours suggested that Peru might have been bribed into allowing Argentina to win the match by such a large margin (especially because the Peruvian goalkeeper, Ramón Quiroga, was born in Argentina)
“Violence of the tongue” wake up and smell the coffee if I am abroad and someone starts screaming and shouting at me in a language I don't understand I know when it's threatening or not body language speaks a thousand words. Get over it we could all say there was conspircy theorys in world cups when the host nation won ie Uruguay 30, W germany 74, and your pals in 78 which might I say was the most rigged world cup ever, your arguement is floundering by the post. @185 Watching polo is simply more delightful than watching 20+ fashion models aimlessly kick a ball around before coming to a pre-arranged result while the long term unemployed in the crowd throw racist insults at each other, spending all their money on the strip-of-the-week.

Surely unemployed people have something more constructive to do that watch poorball. Maybe they could engage in a period of self-betterment through education and use the money they save to pay for tutors for their kids.

    Why is that nasty?

It's 'protest against the remarks', not 'protest remarks'...

@171 Actually, in '66, Troche certainly got sent off for brawling. When Troche punched Uwe Seeler. And Silva got sent off for retaliating. I see that Silva also had to be escorted off the pitch by the police. And, as I previously pointed out, RATtin got sent off, essentially, for showing dissent.

But I do agree with you. The racism is palpable. Yours.
@177 Oh, you want to drop it. Because you're losing the “debate” and your racism is showing. Now, I've told you why RATtin and Troche and, most Silva got sent off. No “racism”, just breaches of the laws of the game. I wonder how long you've hung on to those racist views. Now let's compare your attitude to one of the stated attributes of viveza criolla: The habit of blaming problems on someone else, thereby encouraging paranoia and granting a permit to self-indulgence. Try being realistic. Troche didn't have to jump in and hit Seeler. Silva didn't have to retaliate. RATtin didn't have to start shouting and gesticulating at the referee. So don't blame the players that lost control of themselves, blame the referee. Were there any formal complaints to FIFA? Were there hearings? Where are the records? Or is it just your personal (racist) view?
@183 And I see that you can't deal with FACTS.

    conq
Troche slapped Seeler after being sent off. Still nobody knows why Silva got sent off. Rattín was sent off for speaking Spanish to the ref.

And you are fishing for arguments, the red card didn't even exist in 1966.

Again you simply reaffirm that you are a proven liar by ignoring the dictum Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (the burden of proof lies with who declares, not who denies) in so far as you declare without any proof ”ONLY triumph England has in football, they achieved by cheating.

Of course I can, I just did.
Or maybe you want to add those Olympic gold medals back in 1900, 1904 and 1908... or was it 1912?
Feel free to do so. In those, no cheating was recorded.
The fact that the first edition numbered 3 club teams and the other 2 national teams from Europe only is another discussion.

Timerman and TMBOA should remember the saying:

“If you suspect the people you are with think you are an idiot, you should not open your mouth and confirm it as fact.”

Feeding this was the act of the stupid.
