In his closing massive campaign rally in Caracas, Thursday evening incumbent candidate Nicolas Maduro pledged that next Sunday he will win the Venezuelan presidential election and later will take over the presidency of Mercosur. Read full article
I hope the little bird shits on him, he deserves that, what a plonker
Don't forget the U$S 13 billion that Argentina owes you, you owe it to your people to keep them sweet.
Apparently the people of venezuela do not mind giving their oil away free to cuba and argentina, maybe they are better off with the bus driver. They deserve him......besides, he is putting a curse on those who do not vote for me......that says it all about the bus driver, that and the little bird.
Is there anybody in Venezuela with a mind? Let's take a look at the future. Maduro has already promised more state handouts. Where does that money come from? Venezuela's oil production rate is falling, so it won't be from there. Besides, any money from that source will be desperately needed for food imports. So the handouts will have to come from taxes. Excellent idea. Take the money from the people, then give some of it back and explain how generous you are. Isn't inflation running around 22%? Will there be another devaluation? Making the bolivares in your pocket worth even less. And that increases inflation even more. The current official exchange rate for the dollar is 6.3 bolivar, but on the black market it's more like 25 bolivares for a dollar. And it's the black market rate that guides food prices. And Venezuela's overseas debt is increasing all the time. That's important because the more dollars that have to stay overseas to pay debts, the less there is for food imports. Shouldn't the Venezuelan economy be better managed? Venezuela's per capita nominal GDP is around US$11,000. Further south, that of the Falkland Islands is US$55,000! And yet Venezuela appears to be getting ready to elect a nutter that listens to little birdies. Cuckoos, no doubt. Venezuela, like argieland, is staring economic meltdown in the face.
You mean Prescott in charge of a pie shop. Why are there so many basket cases in South America? Answer.... They are not South American, they all originate from basket case Club Med countries!
it's good, that there are always states which elect silly and irresponsible leaders like Venezuela does. Otherwise we wouldn't have real-life examples of what all goes wrong with daydreamers in power.
Maduro pledges he will be elected president and later ‘president’ of Mercosur,
please.....is this one of his fat singing bird chavez hallucination/ miracle/ bullshit visions?
Its a crowd pleaser i suppose, I wonder if he'll get the same, ahem....favors from crustina that chevez did for the extra $B's ??
no wonder her lips are swollen, she takes lip service to a whole new level.....
Chavez paid $13B to build his little empire and access to Mercosur. He wanted to be President of South America. It didn't really work out so well for him and the oil money has been squandered; money that could have been used to vastly improve the lives of the people there. Still, they own Argentina.
Now we will see how much support he will get from S.A., it´s one thing winning the elections in Venezcuba but how many S.A. leaders will support cuckoo head as the president of Mercosur....CFK, Dilma, Mujica, Pinera.....don´t think so!
Maybe Correa & Morales.....quizas???
I disagree Elaine. They owned Argentina before CHubby started the back door tango with the devil last month. I don't think the bus driver has the ability to own Argentina as chubby did and it's obvious that the bus driver will be running venezuela after this weekend.
#16 I agree, there is no way Dilma will vote for madura to lead Mercosur, or Paraguay. SA is becoming a country of individual nations as opposed to one nation as they want to be, as it should be individual nations. Mercosur is dead as a unifying organization. Despite being latin americans, SA is too diverse to try to become one nation.....it will never happen. Besides, egos would never allow for one leader of the Mercosuran States of America.
@17 I should have been more clear in my remarks. Venezuela has owned Argentina since the K's took power. They purchased billions in government bonds so Argentina could pay off the IMF and the oil money is just another debt.
I agree the United States of South America is highly unlikely. Simón Bolívar realised this a couple of hundred years ago.
Next Sunday he will be president of Venezuela
Next he will be president of Mercosur.
Next he will be president of South America,
Next he will be president of all the peoples.
The world is his oyster..
Another nut,
Or just a mad bus driver on a mission..
.
@19 yes, they do but because of the disparate governments it would never work. Imagine if they did? They would be a formidable trading group if they could work together and honour contracts.
Yes they could be,but between corruption, greed, lust for power and many more fine attributes, they will remain what they are....failures that lash out and blame the world for their own problems.
From an Uruguayan point of view we are more than happy to have the chavistas buying out our bancrupt banks, giving money to hopelesss social projects like ALUR and subsidizing our oil imports
Particularlyif we dont have to pay it back!
It is much better if they do elect him, leaders like him and Kirchner at one end of the spectrum highlight to the world the leadership and governance at the other end of the spectrum in the Falklands. This guy will be no end of trouble for south america.
