That vessel doesn't look seaworthy. Hope it doesn't sink or anything.

Rememer that the 1982 war actually started with Argentinian Scrap metal workers landing on South Georgia and protests against Britain in Argentina. If this scientific tub tries to land at South Georgia it should be sunk forthwith and without warning. That may well scare the Argentinians off from starting another war in which the will get their backsides kicked Again

An old lady this vessel. She was built before the Falklands war.

Wonder when her last refit was?

Going to sea in an Argentine vessel, highly dangerous endeavour, wonder if they managed to get any insurance?

Scrap metal workers would be the only ones to see potential in this tub!

I wouldn't want to set sail in this tub. I'm sure that the ships movements and 'activity' will be scrutinised.

Argentina has been pulling these silly stunts since the 1940's - for all the good it's ever done them.

Well, if they thought there was a British sub in the South Atlantic before today, there WILL BE NOW!

Stabiled power for lab purposes computes to just over 3.5 kW at unity power factor. The standby UPS I have for my suite of computers comes to 2.6kW and that is in my home.

Do the argies EVER get anything right?

so... the Argentine Dictatorship is sending a ship in the hope that it gets pulled to one side by the local cops so that they can then complain about the nasty Anglos....

well, 0 out of 10 for originality.
    10/10 for persistence
-10 for peace in the area

Now, somebody remind me how CFKs dictatorship is “only seeking peace” by these sorts of escapades and the covert funding of maroons like Toni basil who want to “demand” Argentina is given a flight into the Falklands... and to do so they will smash up the competitors offices and threaten their staff....

    peace my arse....

What will probably happen is that this “ship” will run into trouble and have to be rescued by the Brits, at which point the CFK-Tards will raise it as an “Attack on our sovereignty” at the UNSC.

Personally I put bets on the 10-1peso to dollar before then though, and that will mark the watershed between CFK support for money and non-CFK support for survival.

And of course if the ship dips its nets whilst inside the conservation zones without the appropriate fishing licence..

Kindest regards from the Falkland Islands

did you know that whilst Argentine military forces were occupying the Falkland they launched an operation against the Brits called... “Self Determination”.

I nearly wet myself laughing at the irony....

Never been one to accuse the the Argentinian government of a lack of imagination - usually it is vividly inventive.

But this is rather a transparent attempt to leave a lot of scrap metal on South Georgia which “scrap metal merchants” might try to recover in the future.

Her Majsteys Submarine is probably just waiting to examine the hull of this wreck as we speak, not that they'll know it's happened of course

Well, wherever it is going to, it will be travelling twice as fast as the tub the argies and their hangers-on are using.

Mind you, I did suggest that this potential for a stunt by a bunch of cunning stunts is the perfect example why we should be militarising the waters around and adjacent to the Falklands.

I wonder if it has the new 'silent' explosive warheads fitted to the torpedoes?

Damn! I let that slip out.

Yet another gesture that will produce minimal scientific data and another fart in the wind. It's endurance of 24 days is not very impressive. But fair play to them ,if it comes back without sinking or breaking down.

An Argentine mission is successful if a ship comes back without being impounded, sinking, breaking down or catching fire. For that achievement Argentina ships are met back home with parades, air displays etc etc.

But I bet the scientific data will be nothing the FIG does not already have.

But they will have been near or even in Falkland waters and beat the Brits to get home safely.

I think it will be medals all-round for that!

I confidently predict that when this old tub gets back to Argentina(if it does) they will announce to the world that they have found the wreck of HMS Invincible after fighting off at least 3 British nuclear subs whilst being bombed by a squadron of Vulcans

    @27LOL
I would be mightily impressed if they get through Falkland waters without being boarded by the FIDF/FIG ship (the last attempt by the RG navy to bully fishing vessels ended a few months back when the FIG ship warned them off, only armed with a light gun).

You are accurate in that even daring to enter British waters( or landing on South Georgia) would earn them a huge row of shiny gongs (like Blue Peter badges etc) and mass celebrations back at base-but the silly prats don't grasp the reality that they don't own it because they are not on it.
    @28
Lol-The airbrushed photographs of their succcess will be impressive.
