By Rodolfo Arrate (*) - The Argentine poet Jorge Luis Borges famously declared: “Democracy is an abuse of statistics”. Observing the evolution of the political regime in Argentina nowadays, the poet’s sentence may well have turned into a prophecy. Read full article

Thank you, idiots. Now the destruction of Argentina will be accelerated. CFK will burn for this.

Where is Sean Penn when we need him??

Isn't he a 'friend of Argentina'??

Couldn't he intercede and rein in CFK, like the way he is interceding in Bolivia ??

From military rule to totalitarianism in three short decades. Only the nazis managed to do it quicker. Priceless.

Thankfully CFK and her cronies are stealing all the cash for themselves rather than ploughing it into things like the army - they will never be able to threaten neighbours including the Falklands while this lot are in charge. Frankly they can stay within their borders and sink into a cesspool until either the people summon the brains to vote her out or someone finds the balls to unite the opposition.

    Good article.

@3, Sean Penn has a record of validating any potentate who rags on America. If they are doing it while standing on the necks of their people, that doesn't seem to be a bug for him - rather, it's a feature.

@5 Where do you get the idea about “voting” her out? Mr Arrate refers to Hitler. Once “dear Adolf” decided to become Fuhrer, I don't recall him letting the “people” waste their time with “voting”. Surely CFK plans the same? After all, she has “darling Maximo” so the succession is assured. Why go to all the trouble and expense of “voting” when she's already decided the result? In a “clever female” move, she's surrounded herself with dunderheads, eg Tinman, Putrid Jelly, Lollyzino, who can be blamed, and shot, as necessary.

As long as you have brainwashed Argies on here that praise her every move,

Adore her feet and agree with very piece of anti British propaganda,
Then we and the decent Argentinian will have no chance of friendly persuasion,

    They are as such doomed..

The future existence of Argentina depends on the descision of the Supreme Court. We can only pray (those of us who believe in the power of prayer) or fervently hope (those of us who don't) that the Supreme Court Judges have not been bought by the kirchnerite plague and will hand down a well thought out descision!!!!!!!

However briton, these insignificant trolls that post here do not live tin Argentina nor do they speak for a good portion of the Argentine population. Time will tell if the people learned anything when October rolls around, but then if you read the news, asslips increased handouts by 40% so she already began vote buying.

Amazing how few comments this lengthy article has attracted.

I don't think I ever truly believed Argentina was again heading down the path to non-democratic government until today.

“I don't think I ever truly believed Argentina was again heading down the path to non-democratic government until today.”

This week is the Death-blow to their freedom,

    1) Rule of Law and independent Judiciary - gone

    2) Whitewash Bill - freedom of the press - gone

    3) Prices, Inflation, free-will, private assets - controlled by La Campora “goon squads ”!!

    George Orwell was so right.

    “WAR IS PEACE
    FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
    IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.”

    For the people of Argentina,

“ If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”

    Troy

It is amazing that they accept it with nothing but docile consent.

CFK's government did well. First they created foreign enemies of the IMF, UK, hedge funds etc and then it is almost text book. Without a large domestic Jewish population to persecute, they are still heading down the same road.

...or the Falklands - the perfect “enemy”, tantalisingly close and forever unattainable.

Hate hate hate - always at “War” to keep the “Peace” at home.

    “War is Peace”

What is truly sad Troy is for the people in Argentina that do not want this, that have never voted for this.....the working class, the middle class.
It is actually quite sad to see a country fail this this, especially when I have personal attachments there. I wonder if this is how Europeans felt when country by country feel to the nazi's? I think a better idea of how far gone Argentina is will come in October. But the peronism disease will remain regardless.

@9 What a pity that the judges of your Supreme Court are all appointed by the President. It's supposed to have nine members. “As of August 2006 there are two vacancies, which then President Kirchner stated she did not intend to fill.” Has anything changed? Are you expecting them to oppose the office that appointed them?

Unfortunately the grip the peronists have established on the justice system makes it very unlikely that any judicial inquiry will be carried out with integrity and impartiality. The Supreme Court is not all rotten however, but well backed-up allegations show that the President of Court has a shady past...
