Just imagine the argies firing a 21 gun salute as they went into ANY port outside of South America: they would be seen as pirates and blown out of the water: that is if the old tub they were in was still afloat having fired the blanks and shattered the framework.

    LOLs

So great is Mujica's admiration of the Royal Navy, he prohibited its docking in Uruguayan ports...

Uruguayan port authorities, ot should I have the one with most influence, is controlled by the opposition, with Pollak in charge. Their excuse was that the vessel sailed under Norwigan flag and was registered as a research vessel. Bullocks, I agree, but it's interesting that the British media has another version of the excuse...
ANP are the same ones who opposed a shared obligation with Argentina to dredge the Martín García.
You see, ANP does anything to prevent the current government to succeed, it's just not in their interest.
And they learnt from the Gloucester incidence, that one was under British flag (also in the papers) and registered as an army vessel and as such, it was denied access to the port.
Even if the gesture was symbolic in its nature, it's a genius move from Mujica to keep ANP busy.
And they will not be the authorities in the new port, I must hope.
