Has Uruguay finally grown a dick or something, they seem to be cracking the mould in all sorts of areas at the moment. I don't think the dark queen will be happy at all.

3 I think they now realise that Mercosur is a train to nowhere ! PA , EU and USA much more attractive . Also fed up with Brazil acting as an imperial power . You will do what we want or else ! Rousseff must rid herself of the foreign affairs advisor and rely more on the professional Foreign Ministry .

I do hope you are correct, however Dilma has shown no intention of removing the real dead-head to the imminent future of Brasil: Mantega, the so called Finance Minister.

Argentina will never agree to anything with the USA. Argentina didn't even enter World War II, in spite of the threats, intimidation, and bullying by that depraved nation. They think we will sign any trade deals with them? LOL. Keep dreaming.

The rest of Latin America can do what they want. The USA is irrelevant for Argentina and if they sank tomorrow it woudn't affect us much really.

Whilst I have to agree that Argentina did not actually 'do' anything to help the Allies defeat the Axis powers they did declare war on Germany in 1945 so that they could join the UN and perhaps get some 'pickings' from the war ravaged countries.
Sounds about typical does it not?

As I said awhile back watch for an FTA with Uruguay as MercoSur dies.

It is already done, Mujica is the one that stopped it, stupid drunk old commie. Time to put that old man out to pasture.

It is so hard being right all the time.

ALBA plus Argentina will be left in the dustbin of history.

6 True , Argentina did not enter the war . But it did something more important , sent a lot of meat and other foodstuff to the UK . True that it had little option since the meat packing companies were foreign - Swift , Liebigs and Armour -but it did not hamper them !

With all the love and respect Don Vazquez speaks of alienating the United States, on issues of migration, energy security, infrastructure, production and innovation, education, employment, social protection, the coordinated action against terrorism and drug trafficking, money laundering, arms sales and trafficking.
All these never negotiate, especially now that Obama has to Congress against him. But I see a desperate call recently supported his candidacy in Uruguay. And with lines to become a future senator (after losing a vote of President).

During his tenure as President, Vázquez was in favor of an FTA with the US. However, he was shot down by his own foreign minister, Reinaldo Gargano. By arrangement? Due to internal bickering in the Frente Amplio? Because of the Communists who wield power within the Frente Amplio far in excesss of their actual numbers? You tell me.
