Yeap, the champion of the poors visit that will cost US$ 160 millions.......!!!

How many poors could have a basic home, basic health care or basic education with those US$ millions bad spent.....shame on this guy that tray to convince people that he means changes but is the same dog with another chain.....

Hope my country never will spent a cent more with another too expensive visit like the one we had years ago......

That guy would pay himself for his car airfreght, tickets, hotel, food and pocket money during his travels....instead be less funds from host Gvts, for the poors....

    @1
Not only the cost of his visit, but the cost to those travelling from far and wide to see him.

Mass hysteria like football, useless to the human race. Syncophants should get off their lardarses and do something to help the poor and poor elderly, that would help them and others. Unfortunately, all too common self destructive behavior in SA.

One hopes for a very successful visit . That the Pope will strengthen the faith of believers to continue the fight against poverty , discrimination and despair . And convince the youth , irrespective of their beliefs , to treat others as they would like to be treated and spread goodwill and love .

6 & 7 @ Yes, but the same could be done traveling as common people in tourist class, driving a Beettle WV, slepping at one of the excesive churchs they have, eating the day menú at a regular restaurant, wearing regular troussers and shirt as any pedestrian guy that don´t have personal Md.as companion......
The message would be the same and stronger to the youth that take care about the last cell pone or tablet, the best sportwear, the ultimate cars, etc....
The present message is “do what I say not what I do”, because in that case the poorest would be poorer following his example of life.....living into the richness and talking about the poverty...what a contradiction....!!!!

Oh, I agree with that, and following some news, Pope Francisdo does that too. That´s why he begun some really needed reform at the Vatican bank for it to use it´s resources better for the benefit of the ppl.

This pope wants to walk on air with the people,
So he visits a very violent country, and wants to walk with the people,

    The people will love him,
So will the nutters, loonies , hit men , poss. assai nation
Time will tell, if this man truly becomes what millions believe,
    The holy of all holy’s,
Or the next poor deluded victim of someone else’s deluded warp mind..
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
belive me, their are loads of mad people out there, just waiting to make a name for themselves.

I´m pretty sure that if he tray to push the carriage too fast he will be out of duty very son.....packed by the Vatican Nomenklatura....(gays, abusers, corrupt, theaves, atc-....the worst you can expect from the human race).
But he can change things inmediatly avoiding the useless expenses like the luxurious way of life within his own behaviour as I have mentioned above. Other way it will be just empty words that will confirm the rule.

“champion of the poor”, how?? telling others to feed the poor when the catholic churches cupboards are full to the brim is grossly ironic and hypocritical, but hey faith is a good brainwasher, I would have thought “champion for persecuted sexually abused children within the catholic church” would be more fitting, but that would take a miracle!

you can be anything you like, even a catholic priest bumming young boys if you wish, assuming the catholic church is willing to pay hush money to the poor family, but to portray yourself as a “champion of the poor” is the pinnacle of cynical, shouldn't it be “Groomer of the poor”??

@16 I agree, but I would go one further and ask why does religion and politics bring out the worst of normally decent ,well meaning humans. and not the people who discuss it.

Because both affect the mankind, one giving it a way to keep less educated under control by the fear of god ....the other through the control of people offering them overvalued expectations that end on frustration....
One thing said by Marx was true.....religions is the opium of the people.......!!! and politic too.......!!!

Fortunately I'm atheist by the god´s grace.......!!!!!

@16 Indeed, but you know, ppl can be well meaning but also intolerant, I instead wonder why does it matter so much to them?

    19 Elena
“I instead wonder why does it matter so much to them?”

I can only speak for myself: it doesn't!

WHAT matters is the abuse that atheists get from people who believe in the unbelievable.

Baxter called ma a bigot, which I am not, you see to have hatred, contempt, or intolerance of something must be based on the premise that you care about it, and I don't.

I do get animated when the holy try to put their delusions as fact which they are not: there is now some thought (and evidence) that Jesus as portrayed by the bible never existed. When you realise that some of the “Christian” beliefs are based on other religions some 4,000 years old and therefore predate the start of Christianity even you must start to wonder what is going on. The bible is of course nothing but a collection of books, written at different periods of time and somehow transmuted into the “holy word” of God AND in America, and elsewhere I suppose, some people actually believe EVERY word was “written” by God. The stupidity of some people knows no bounds/

I will leave you with this:
“To you, I’m an atheist; if god existed, I would be the loyal opposition” (after Woody Allen)
