Foreign Minister Hector Timerman strongly criticised an alleged anti-Argentina campaign carried out in US Congress by members of hedge funds in litigation with Buenos Aires. Timerman made his case while meeting in his office with visiting members of the US congress. Read full article

Aug 13th, 2013 - 03:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0Of course, it would be simpler if Argentina just paid its debts !

Aug 13th, 2013 - 03:29 am - Link - Report abuse 0bet he did,nt mention the record number of international court judgements Argentina refuses to pay!
I'm sure all those US Congressmen listened to his constant whinning about how 'it's not fair', and then calmly told him that Argentina should pay it's debts, or be locked out of the financial markets FOREVER.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 03:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0I mean it's no skin off the International Communities nose...they'll save money.
And finally Tobias can have his dream of a North Korean-like Argentina, isolated from the world, wallowing in its own filth and misery.
A win/win all round, really isn't it?
”... keep working together in order to avoid special interests dictating the links between both nations,”
Aug 13th, 2013 - 04:32 am - Link - Report abuse 0Special interests always dictate the links between both nations, that's why they're called special interests.
I thought Timerman was one of the leaders of the ‘anti-Argentina campaign’??
Aug 13th, 2013 - 04:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0He's doing a damn fine job of it
Don't worry Timerman, we won't cry for Argentina!

Aug 13th, 2013 - 05:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0WTF was he all about?
Shelby....really......He's a stance conservative republican. Tinman would have had more success talking to a wall. Maybe he thought these guys were going to take a suitcase full of greenbacks.......nada.

Yankee Shelby!....of all people to grovel too!
Aug 13th, 2013 - 08:08 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh good. An anti-Argentina campaign. Long overdue. After 1982, why is argieland still a member of the UN? It should be expelled for refusing to comply with UNSC 502. Why is argieland permitted to continue its false, illegitimate and lying claims to the Falkland Islands? Demand that the ICJ investigates and rules. Not forgetting that both Britain and the Falkland Islands would have unlimited rights to appeal. And the rights under uti possidetis, after June 1982. A UN naval and airborne task force to restrict argieland to its territorial waters. A clear statement that argie leaders will be taken into UN custody and tried. Perhaps they could hope to be incarcerated on uninhabited islands. Or perhaps they'd prefer execution?
Aug 13th, 2013 - 09:16 am - Link - Report abuse 0The US congress is one of the most corrupt, venal, debauched, lecherous, unpopular, rejected assembly of truants on this planet. They are lucky when they break the double-digit percentage popularity barrier.

Ah! It's just after lunchtime. The teen pajero has just woken up..
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:08 am - Link - Report abuse 0Wrong, I always use my 25 minutes after study and before review and lunchtime to air the truth in these forums. That's why I always show up around the time, and then go on my merry way (maybe to visit before bed time if I so desire to honor you all).
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0Working and studying, you should try it too.
Toby, your analysis of the US senate? 0/10 - absolute balderdash! Put on the Dunces hat and stand in the corner
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:18 am - Link - Report abuse 017. The US Congress has the power over to destroy your economy and throw millions of your people into poverty with the stroke of a pen.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0and I can smell your jealousy from here.
@19
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:22 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh really? That's why they need the Europeans, Russians, Chinese, Japanese, Mercosur, and others to stop trading with Iran? Because 30 years since stroking that pen, nothing had happened?
Only since the EU and Japan stopped buying Iranian oil, and Russia slow down their tech-aid, did the Iranians really feel the pinch and pressure.
Before that, it was all futility by that futile US congress that can't even get a grip on their own country.
Gollum has run out of shirts again. Another visit to Maceys. The failed foreign minister is ranting because wherever Argentina sends a plane or ship that is still working anywhere its likely to be impounded to pay off unpaid debts.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:29 am - Link - Report abuse 0Here in Britain we have a solution to the unpaid debt problem. Apply to the high court for a writ and send in the sherrifs. The transgressor either pays or assets are removed and auctioned to settle the debt.
The International Community needs to send in the Sherrifs to Argentina. Failing that, the Lone Ranger and Tonto!
20. Ask Cuba how they like using 1950s technology and the only way to get to the USA is a raft.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 10:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0Did that little post scare you?
I think CFK better figure out how many tons of soy grain a tanker of oil is worth. They may lose the use of U$ for trade soon.
@15 You wouldn't know the truth if it split your arse. Because you'd enjoy it. Bet you're a sucker as well. Nor would you know the meaning of the word honour. No argie does. How are your lying INDEC figures? Got used to your 25% inflation, have you? How much I want to see argieland disappear in a nuclear holocaust. I think we can manage 64x10x10 megatonne warheads. Isn't that 6,400 megatonnes?Let's do the sensible thing. Destroy argieland. And shoot tinboy out of the sky!
Aug 13th, 2013 - 11:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0Gollom: the gift that keeps on giving.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 11:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Tobi you get stupider with each passing day. The deeper the hole Argentina digs itself into, the stronger you support it. Your crack laced statements are like pisshole's in a snowhole.....here now, gone later.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 12:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Here we go again! Everybody else is to blame except Argentina! It is odd that a nation that must be the most arrogant nation on this Earth will never accept the blame for its shortcomings.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 12:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0An Anti-Argentina campaign = 2 congressmen visit islands that you tried to colonize by force against the UN charger and binding UN security council resolutions + a Argentine expert on Iran's actions in the western hemisphere (where the US is also located) is asked to brief congress + people in the US asking for money that was borrowed from them to be paid back as mutually agreed when the deal was made.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 01:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Or to once sentence it, The Yanks aren't kissing your tushie 24-7.
Come and see the violence inherent in the system.
CFK goes on and on with her anti-U.S. rhetoric.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 02:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Just about as openly hostile to the U.S. as Hugo was. Is this inaccurate?
Didn't Timmerman sequester a U.S. military plane when it landed in Argentina?
Anti Argentina faction? This CFK administration takes every opportunity it can to bash the U.S. It is totally anti-US, and there's Timmerman complaining about the U.S. being anti-Arg.
Who is the insignificant dwarf in the pink tie? OOOPS it's GOLLUM
Aug 13th, 2013 - 04:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0and working towards increasing trade between the two nations.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 04:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Hint Gollum, produce Lemons organically or without so many poisons, and eradicate foot and mouth from your beef herds.
But Argentina is too lazy to do anything properly.
Growing your GM Soya crops means they are resistance to herbicides-and you use more of them-so someone is going to suffer down the line (apart from those kids who are burned by herbicides in Argentina).
What a pansy this guy is -moan moan moan winge complain, it's not fair-DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT Herr Gollum.
Have Argentina pay its loans back-stop demanding when you cannot back those demands up.
These words are wasted-like Argentina.
I am thinking that when the tinman met the US Senators, the Senators eyeballed him in the context of tinman rifling through a USAF C-130. I am also thinking that image burned a lasting impression in their mind. When tinman left I am sure he felt the US Senators were truly in line with him and agreed with everything he said.
Aug 13th, 2013 - 08:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0That action was not enough to make an international incident over, but one that was not taken lightly, not likely to be forgotten. They most likely met him just to see what this titmouse actually looks like.
Thad Cochran is not from Minnesota. He's from Mississippi. Sheesh, guys. Get it together.
