Lucky man? Lucky he was alone!
58 year old Uruguayan Raul Gomez Cincunegui is on the run from Chilean authorities after being accussed of sexually abusing an 8 year old boy in Santiago in April.
He was barred from leaving Chile in April while awaiting legal proceedings and it is currently believed he was attempting to cross the border illegally near the town of Petorca as border police were informed of his ban from leaving the country.
However his family knew this as they lost contact with them when the mobile phone connection went dead on a mountain pass between Argentina and Chile known as Paso de los Patos.
This man is no Roberto Canessa.
However his actions are no reflection of his country of origin nor the country he escaped to, just himself. Should the charges be proven true, it may have been better to have left him where he was found.
I fully agree with Anglotino, the guy was not allowed to leave the country (Chile), so he escaped through the cordilleras...
