And this is the economic plan Argentina has been following.
    What a bunch of dimwits.

Such a shortage will not seriously worry the Venezuelan government in part because it will limit the flow of information to the masses.

Now the government dominated television media will have less competition to being heard.

So the average Venezuelan is now going to be even more in the dark about 'how well' their country is doing.

That is, until the inevitable blackout and then they will really be in the dark; literally and figuratively.

I don't understand the problem. With all the amazing successes of the Venezuelan “government” and “economy”, not to mention the “little bird”, surely the “government” could put out an A4 sheet with all their current successes every week. At the rate of 1 sheet per thousand people, they only need less than 29,000 sheets. They don't need to go into detail. Here's an example:

Crime: Falling; Drug Use: Falling; Economy: Fine; Finance: Who? Housing: Time to get more corrugated tin; Health: Eat more carrots; Inflation: Wheeeee! Justice: Where? Law: Do as you're told; Security & Sabotage: 2,000 extreme right activists arrested! TV: The Maduro Night. (Tomorrow's programme will the The Nicolas Night); Video: The Nicolas Night (repeat); Worldwide: U.S. criticises Maduro for being a total prat. Maduro responds that he “knows how to switch the traffic indicator on............and off. Changing gear, he admits, is still a problem as he can't see past the moustache; Yesterday: In news too late to report yesterday, something flew over a dropped a pile of bird shit on the Glorious Replacement Commander's head. Apparently, El Presidente is in two minds as to whether to accuse the United States of unwarranted aerial aggression, or to see it as being ”anointed“ by his predecessor.

Editor's note: Due to failing paper supplies because of interference by the imperialist, colonialist, capitalist West, this weekly newspaper will go to a monthly issue as from tomorrow. Remember that subscriptions must be paid, in real U.S. dollars, at least 2 months in advance. It's a snip at only US$100 for two copies. In the interests of the environment, please retain your copy as toilet paper is hard to get. Health & Safety warning: Try to avoid paper cuts. Bleeding from the arse can give your neighbours the wrong impression. Unless you like big ones! Also, remember ”the snip”. You CAN ease population pressure!

“What you need, Sr. President, is Eucalyptus pulp to make your paper.
I know somebody in Mercosur who is trying to massively increase his country's capacity to produce it and trade it.
If you are willing to pay the international market rate I'm sure that your friend can be persuaded to change her mind and support the pulp-to-newsprint program.”

“Make some paper yourselves, you can do it!”

Sure they can, but no one invests in a cleptocracy. And even if someone did manage to start paper manufacturing the regime would set a quota at a fixed price way below production cost that you had to deliver to the regime's pet clients. If you refuse or fail to do that the facility will be confiscated as “critical” to the people and nation and turned over to some politically approved thief.
