Sep 13th, 2013 - 04:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0Even die-hard patriots can surely not believe these figures. I find it so amazing that the Argentine government doesn't realise how farcical it sounds when it produces figures such as these.
No one is hurt more that Argentina by lying about growth and inflation.
As for Latin America’s third largest economy......
Haha NOT! That would now be Colombia. And at this rate and with these rubbery figures Argentina will soon be behind their hermanitos shilenos over the Andes.
Wow. That's pretty brazen as wholly invented numbers go.
Sep 13th, 2013 - 04:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0It makes you wonder how they come with them. A sacrificial chicken on a ouija board or the more traditional dartboard?
For a country to achieve such growth based on a bumper harvest, it would have to be a largely agrarian economy.
Sep 13th, 2013 - 09:07 am - Link - Report abuse 0So if these numbers are true, the Ks have failed to diversify the economy and move up the food chain.
If the numbers are false, then Mrs K will have to explain why there is so much poverty when they have have such robust growth.
Ha ha ha ha aha

I remember George Brown, CoE in the Wilson government, saying that the UK economy would grow by 6%.
Sep 13th, 2013 - 11:29 am - Link - Report abuse 0We didn't believe him either - though we were experiencing, so we were told, the white heat of the technological revolution.
[Same school and Honours Board as Wilson, but different years]
Couple little problems, Soy although more area is predicted be planted this year the farmers have not been fertilizing nor are they allowed to import the chemicals needed for this year's crops.
Sep 13th, 2013 - 12:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And then there is Brazil, I don't see them buying too many cars this year.
I do see Arg buying a lot more fuel though
My guess is they won't have enough U$ to pay for imports if the crops are close to what they were this year.
When your whole economy counts on the whims of the worldwide weather the numbers will never be accurate.
Is this their way of saying, look Falkland Islanders, we gonna be rich so you vote to be our colony now?

Sep 13th, 2013 - 03:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I am interested to know why a country needs two quoted prices for U$S.( Official and Cave ) could someone explain the difference?
Sep 14th, 2013 - 03:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0@9 cave or blue dollar is the black market price, the official one is the one you can't get at all.
Sep 14th, 2013 - 10:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0In 1973 in Libya we had to declare all foreign currency when entering, does that apply in Argentina?
Sep 15th, 2013 - 11:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0@11 not sure, according to law yes but you know how things are in Argentina. I never had to declare anything, just make sure you don't get caught.
