A couple of days before Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa is set to arrive in Argentina he sank his right hand into the bushes of the Ecuadorean Amazon and then showed it to the dozens of journalists summoned for the demonstration: it was covered in oil. Read full article

Hell they are taking their time to send this agreement with Chevron to Congress... They should rather hurry up because after the elections in October I doubt it will pass, and it’s already looking very bad for the lefties at home and abroad

Chevron should be made to pay like the Americans are making BP pay. Unlikely though that the process will be as corrupt as that going on in the good old USA.

Everyman and his dog seeking compensation from BP, why not screw the arse off them. At least Gulf Keystone sorted the chancers.

I say close the tort cases and toss Tony in jail......along with the Texaco CEO and all the BoD's, clean the environment, make whole those that lost earnings and pay a fine that will force them on a path that will make them all avoid shortcuts.
BP always has the option to no longer drill in the new world.

And after Chevron we need to get full compensation from Union Carbide for killing thousands in India. Can't be one rule for American Companies and another for the rest of the World.
But back to the Gulf, Haliburton is another interesting example - Did a rubbish cement job and then tried to cover it all up by destroying evidence and blaming BP. And how Transocean is still in business after their poor rig maintenance and incompetent staff is beyond me. And finally we come to those good old American citizens telling lies to make a fast buck. No better than looters.

Just telling it like it is.........BP's treatment is poisoning the well of good USA/UK relations.....that together with the disgraceful treatment handed out to Glaxo. HSBC and Standard Chartered. So we get ripped off and old skinny legs comes along and says “fancy another illegal war in Syria?” and we say “nah not today thanks, ask the Frenchies”.

We? lol sure...we. You may be British but you are far from being BP. BP has minimal assets in Britain, Majority of it's workers and NOT British. The highest% of assets of BP worldwide is in North America...in particular the USA......must be some reason? Do you even know what nationality owns the highest % of stock? You sound like a Chauvinist regarding a multinational corp where the only relationship to Britain these days are B in the BP. BP and every other greedy assed corporation always has the option of packing their bags and leaving the USA.......correct? One simple question........will you anwser it?
The real Brit's on this site know the score..........go back to the camp.
BTW.....BoA That's Bank of America for you to understand) has been fined over 10 billion and American's are not crying for them.
    lol

    @11
I quite agree, it was quite astonishing the way knives were out for BP as opposed to Haliburton and Transocean who owned the rig.

I'm sure Correa will find out the hard way how Argentina honours it treaties.

Hey Brits, is it true the british created the word FUCK......Fornicating Under the Consent of the King? And did the King Fuck all the newly weds as a custom? I can't see the queen doing that......bad enough Phillip hangs his balls in clear view in the dress he wears from time to time. WTF! Gotta love the Brits.......when you see their wake.....Africa...India....Middle East....SA.....where have they not destroyed a region?

    @ 12 Captain Poppy

We ALL knew BP is owned by N Americans!

What none of us could stomach was the holier than thou attitude of Obuma who kept referring to it as a British Company and “a failure of Britain to safeguard the Gulf” when he knew it was not so.

And, whether you like it or not there have been plenty of “money-baggers ” encouraging claims without a shred of evidence to support them and arrests have been made. No one should support crooks at the expense of those who really did suffer a loss.

I felt really sorry for the family businesses who held BP franchises for service stations who suffered a real collapse after Obuma lied to the American people and encouraged a boycott. And he still got re-elected.

I think BP was guilty of trusting Sister American service companies to do their contracted jobs AND then not checking that they had, no surprise when it all went tits up.

#17 seems like one is fucking itself now.......or some sort of retribution. Since the yanks kicked you off their continent, the brits have continually shrank. Of course not before you fucked over the world and destroyed almost every continent the brits set foot on. However, fortunately every has managed to rid themselves of the brits, so naturally they were left to destroy their own. Ireland detests the brits, Scots can't leave fast enough. What is left of the empire? Britain was something when Kings had names like Long Shanks or Lion Hearted. Now the blue bloods have their wife murder all the marry someone else. Like a Tutor storybook...........no one can make this royal shit up.

It is Briton....this I can tell you with certainty.......be it a British charted corporation, USA, Russian or anywhere in Europe.....the CEO gives less than a rats ass and nipple about anyone, anything outside of the price per share and his bonus and stock options. I can give the same two rats ass and nipples if it is an American or British company that the CEO gets its ass handed to him by “tank” in cell block 6 as long as the CEO's and BoD's get to see their ankles doing time for acts like BP in the Gulf, Union Carbide in India and Chevron via the buyout of Texaco in the Amazon. I support capitalism...........I loath the greed of multinationals.

i to do not like greedy multinationals.

all they want is power to control,
all that money and will we mortals see any of it,
    not likley ..lol.
    just saying..

Not to mention they are ALL hanging onto the cash, not hiring and if they do......they are in countries with little to no labor laws and inhuman wages. I feel no sympathy nor nationalism to the vast majority of these multinationals.
Is Obama fucking BP.......most likely......but he is an equal opportunity corporate reamer and BP is not alone.

e close of 2012 seems a good time to refresh the list – given the number of new entries on it. The list now reads as follows: -
BP – $1.256 billion (environmental and related offenses) (2012) -
    Pfizer – $1.2 billion (marketing offenses) (2009) -
    GlaxoSmithKline – $956 million (marketing offenses) (2012) -
    Eli Lilly – $515 million (marketing offenses) (2009) -
    AU Optronics – $500 million (antitrust) (2012) -
    Abbott Laboratories – $500 million (marketing offenses) (2012) - Hoffman-LaRoche – $500 million (antitrust) (1999) -
    Yakazi – $470 million (antitrust) (2012) -
    Siemens – $450 million (FCPA) (2009) -
    Halliburton/KBR – $402 million (FCPA) (2008). -

Stop globalization then. Protect the right to have a job. Competition should be a tool in our struggle to reach a common goal, not the goal itself.
As it is now, we are handing over the entire world on a plate to the multinationals...

Without globalization, SA countries would still be trading via tree carved canoes, Argentina would have no one to drill through shale (questionable whether they actually do), nor would under developed nations have opportunities to develop. India would be farther back.......as would China. You really have not carefully thought out your statement which is easy to make as an exiled South American living in the developed comforts of Europe.
