“We’re going to prove that the state is a better train operator than any private company” bragged Cristina Fernández “We’re going to prove that the state is a better train operator than any private company” bragged Cristina Fernández

The government of President Cristina Fernandez has given another step towards the state control of the Argentine railway system, following the nationalization of three other lines which connect the City of Buenos Aires to the provinces of Tucumán and Córdoba, passing through Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero provinces.

Resolution number 1093/13 issued on Thursday by the Interior and Transport Ministry announced the decision over a line operated by the Ferrocentral S.A. railway company which now will be under control of OFSE, (the State Railway Operator Society) which is responsible for inter-urban services.

The Argentine government had started the nationalization process of the train system in August when it took control of the Roca, Belgrano Sur and San Martín railway lines. On September 12, it decided to do the same with the Sarmiento and Mitre lines.

“We’re going to prove that the state is a better train operator than any private company” President Cristina Fernández bragged on Tuesday, openly defending the government's takeover of the railway system.

The resolution also establishes that the Railway Infrastructure Administration Society will be responsible for the nationalized rail infrastructure.

Likewise the government companies must come up with an assets inventory of the railways services involved and elaborate in sixty days time a “state of the railways situation” plus an operational plan and another for the maintenance of the railways material and equipment.

More lazy people in government employment will make a mess of it in 5 yrs.

If the Constitucion -Mar del Plata service is anything to go by , the service will collapse into utter chaos .

Elaine : Very good point . It's also worth noting that she is leaving the cargo sector alone , as she does not want a confrontation with Moyano .
