The government of President Cristina Fernandez has given another step towards the state control of the Argentine railway system, following the nationalization of three other lines which connect the City of Buenos Aires to the provinces of Tucumán and Córdoba, passing through Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero provinces. More lazy people in government employment will make a mess of it in 5 yrs.
@1 She needs to take over the railways so she can steal the money China is investing.

Elaine : Very good point . It's also worth noting that she is leaving the cargo sector alone , as she does not want a confrontation with Moyano .
Only the poorest of the poor use those decrepit dangerous long haul passenger trains.
Sep 20th, 2013 - 01:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I remember when I lived there the one that goes to Iguazu was stopped for 48hrs in the middle of nowhere with no food or water. The one to MDP is horrific worse than a train in India!
@1 Wasn't there a recent article that the IDB might make US$1.5 billion available? And there comes the raison d'etre for the nationalisation. CFK can't steal the money so easily if it goes to private companies.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! for argies.
Your railway system is about to become an instrument of state murder. State finances are in an abysmal state. Money needs to be saved. It won't be necessary to import so much energy if there aren't as many people. Railway services can be reduced if there aren't as many people. But, since more people will pack on to any available train, the rate of elimination can be maintained. Fewer people means that less food will be required. Another saving. Watch for your government moving to acquire the assets of anyone dying without a will in place. And a revision of what constitutes a legal will. Worth checking out where the government has carried out works to improve the permanent way. Have the works made things better or worse? Could be worth considering a bicycle. Need to travel further than a bicycle ride? Change your job. Go on benefits. Ambush CFK. Check inside her handbag and her knickers for money. Failing that, demand a ransom. Unlikely to get more than US$50 though. Who'd want the raddled old bitch?
@2 The Chinese won't tolerate it. For all you know they have a team of accountants making sure someone doesn't rip them off.
Sep 20th, 2013 - 03:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I know she will try, and she will be punished for it.
Wasn't someone saying that the army were being pressed into service to repair the tracks?
Sep 20th, 2013 - 04:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Would the investment money go to the army? Or is the army labour free and it goes into CFK's pocket??
Perhaps Aerolineas will 'lay off' redundant personnel and give them new positions with the railways...
I also thought the army was building cargo containers for rail..
