    This must be very worrying for argiescumland. 6.1% of the Falklands population composed of “treacherous” Chileans. On the other hand, to carry out their “responsibilities”, seems likely that Britain and Chile will team up. Then, Paraguay has no reason to “love” argieland. Seems like argieland could be surrounded. Farther away, a U.S. court is about to make argieland bankrupt. It all sounds good to me!

    I doubt the FI would ever swap the UK for Chile but it is very amusing that RG's hopeless efforts to get the islands result in closer ties between FI and Chile.

    @3
    I hope my compatriots behave themselves down there.

    I visit Chile regularly and I have yet to meet a Chilean who likes Argentina, in fact a Chilean I met was proud of his role in assisting Britain defeating Argentina in the Falklands War, yes SA solidarity is bullshit.

    What you all tell may all be true, but what is also true is that even if every nation on this continent from Alaska to La Quiaca is allied with you, Argentina will always rebuff the UK. It will never be complete for you in the Americas because we will always be the ones vigilant to your treachery.

    @12
    “we will always be the ones vigilant to your treachery.”

    Very few nations could ever be as treacherous as Argentina.

    Last year as soon as they had got another fake gesture of support for their Falklands claim from Chile, Argentina almost immediately supported a bid by Bolivia to annex Chilean territory.

    Also with Argentina's track record of ignoring treaties, UN resolutions, and doing their best to stab their own neighbours in the back it would be difficult to assume that the Argentines will ever be anything but treacherous.

    “ It will never be complete for you in the Americas”

    The UK is a long- enough established nation to accept that nothing is ever complete, but the reason Argentina will never achieve completeness themselves is that they cannot concentrate on getting their own country into order.

    The UK does not require everyone to agree with them, and you seem not to understand that on the Falkland Islands, life has always for one reason or another been hard and a challenge, therefore, why Argentines from warmer climes did not emigrate to the islands (there was little stopping them before 1982). It is no coincidence that the majority of Argentina's population is in the North. They are a fair weather people.

    The difficulties caused by Argentina are little worse than the previous problems of isolation, challenges pose by the climate, no trees (unless planted by the Islanders), as a result of where the islands are-a long way from South America-to the Falkland Islanders.

    Life may not be complete in terms of good relations with Argentina, therefore the Islanders find ways round it and still enjoy a higher average income per capita than people in Argentina.

    Chile may officially pronounce support for Argentina over the Falklands, but are sensible enough to secure £millions of trade plus use the Falklands to employ their people.

    And naturally there will be Chileans who prefer the higher standard of living and wish to become Falkland islanders.

    I'm surprised Chile doesn't still have a consulate in the Falklands. With the coming economic boom from the oil industry it has to be only a matter of time before they reestablish one there. Especially when Chileans are 6% of the population and growing fast......

    @TruthPatrol : if it weren't for the Brits , Argentina wouldn't even exist .
    Who do you think paid for the Masonic clique of San Martin , Bolivar Belgrano , Brown and O'Higgins to overthrow Spanish rule ?
    The Brits , of course !!
    Who made Argentina one of the richest countries in the world ? Why , the Brits of course !
    Who took it from one of the richest countries in the world to bankruptcy in 10 years ? Why Peron , of course !
    But hey , keep believing Peron's lies and Evita's fairytales , in the meantime Cristina , Kiscilloff and the rest just keep robbing what's rightfully yours , while you lose sleep over some windswept little islands .
    You mug .

    @8 Nitrojuan. Also congratulations for your fellow 200.000 countrymen (fleeing from your queen) that are sweeping streets, cleaning WCs and other jobs that we don´t want to do here in Chile.

    @16 I didnt know that “chile” cleans the streets, when I went to Punta Arenas I saw a dirty city and people selling in the streets of mud, I dont think Argentinians clean the Chilean WCs because Chileans do not use it, I saw them using wells, maybe another ancestors ´s Mapuche manners .

    @16 Ernie
    I think juanito is a poor Argie who has never been to Chile. Anyone who has been to the far south knows that Ushuaia is filthy compared to Punta Arenas.

    I guess he has never seen the 100s of Argies everyday standing in line at the extranjeria to get the papers they need to work in Chile.

    I guess he has never been to Antofagasta and seen the Argie girls on the streets and in bars selling themselves.

    It is funny that 20 years ago when Argentina really was better than Chile in so many ways, no one in Chile denied that. Today the situation is reversed but most Argies are incapable of recognizing it....poor deluded ex-rich country.

    perhaps the secret of the success of chilean would be selling their hair to make brushes ...

    I have been in Ushuaia and the only filthy place is were chilean inmigrant lives... it smells horrible... we can hear their music in the ush city suburbs.

    Argie girls? I supose no... Really i have seen chilean horrible regaling girls in Rio Gallegos “casitas”.

    Juanito,
    You have never been to Punta Arenas, so you don't realize how dirty Ushuaia is by comparison.

    You also have no idea of today's reality. Like I said above, 20-30 years ago Chileans went to Argentina to work, today the opposite is true.

    If you don't believe me about the Argie girls selling themselves in every Chilean town, you should read your own press:

    “El 40 por ciento de las mujeres entrevistadas que entraron a Chile como víctimas de organizaciones de ”trata“ son argentinas.”
