Argentine president Cristina Fernandez had a “neurologic-image control” test on Wednesday late evening at the Favaloro Hospital in Buenos Aires, following surgery last 8 October to remove a cranium blood clot. It was her first exit since 13 October when she was discharged from hospital and sent to the Olivos presidential residence for a strict 30 day rest-recovery period ordered by her medical team.

“The president is fine”, said the Executive spokesperson Alfredo Scoccimaro on leaving the Favaloro hospital. “She must continue with strict rest and no stress until completing the 30 days since surgery”.

The medical report added that the president is “undergoing a normal post surgery” period and “does not present any cardio-vascular symptoms”.

Likewise the president must keep strictly to the (30 days) rest period indicated and even when allowed to walk, “she must avoid exposure to stress”.

Given her medical condition and ban on flying, Cristina Fernandez will not be able to travel next Sunday to Rio Gallegos to vote in the province of Santa Cruz, or visit the mausoleum of her late husband and former president Nestor Kirchner.

Cristina Fernandez traditionally would participate in the closing rally of the campaign Thursday evening ahead of Sunday's vote, fly on Friday to Rio Gallegos and back to Buenos Aires for results and a speech to followers after the voting was over.

But on this occasion because of her absence and not too encouraging results in some electoral circuits according to public opinion polls, the Kirchnerite campaign headquarters has been moved from the Intercontinental Hotel to the modest Tango Porteño Theatre.

She will need every vote she can get.

I suspect her vote and a few thousand deceased votes are already in.
