    @3

As I recall, Panama was the only vote against UNSC 502 in 1982.

    My, how times have changed.

Official Statement what do you expect. Sucking up to 40,000,000 Argentines for the sake of 3000 or so. No brainer I think, nothing to get excited about. Just tell Argentina what they want to hear, does not have to be the truth, does Argentina tell the truth, we know the answer to that.

How insecure in their position must Timerman and co be, that they have to have an angst-ridden flap and respond heavy-handedly to the establishment of a 'friendship group'?

Very clever, by using the term (mythical) Malvinas, Paraguay continues to support the Falklands!

British fail again? What have the British to do with this? This is a matter between the Falkland Islands and Panamá! I suspect that things will continue in spite of official declaration.

Argie land can get all the support it wants, this will not change the situation, The Falklands are British and that's the way it will stay! Us Islanders will never give up our homeland due to pressure, I wish the Argies would get that in their heads.

What bunch of losers those Argentines are. Have to keep total control of the whole of South America. Just shows that they have not changed since they stole the original land from the indigenous people. Pathetic idiots. One day a lot of other Latin American countries will have to wake up to the fact that they are being controlled by a dictator.

Some of the garbage coming out of Argentina's Government is quite hilarious and I feel proud to be a Falkland Islander where we are educated so well we can tell the difference between real people and thugs.

Not difficult to spot the thugs from The Dark Country: they run away when you shout “Boo”.

Doesn’t actually say they are going stop the inter-parliamentary group, just that foreign policy is the prerogative of the President, and that the official position remains one of support for Argentina.

What this shows is that, whilst all of this generation of S. American leaders may support Argentina (nominally at least), by no means do all S. American politicians.

Does not look like all of the next generation of S. American leaders will support Argentina either.

Far from persuading the world to Argentina’s cause, Herr Timmerman is on the defensive in his own back yard.

    LOL.

Apparently Argentina would like panama to ban all British registered ships from passing through the canal,

And thus hoping CFK influence [or demands] are met by those who profess loyalty to argentines cause,

Sadly for Argentina, panama is not easily frightened by CFK and her cohorts,

Perhaps CFK should try Egypt, and see if her influence stretches to the Suez Canal…lol.

Ilas Malvinas- What are you burbling about! As others have said this issue is 0% to do with the “British” - so how are they “loosers”?

It is an inter-parliamentary friendship that exists between the democratically elected member politicians of 2 countries in the South and Central America region - Panama and the Islands.
Nothing really to do with the Sovereignty Claim! We would not expect Panama to change sides or anything - same as we now have very good relations between our Assembly and that of Uruguay and Columbia - does not mean we expect them to change their vote though.
So if anyone looses I think it is your silly Government who has overreacted and got all excited and probably made the Panamanian Foreign Minister burst out laughing when your Ambassador left the room!
Do try and grow up a bit.

I think the FALKLANDERS should do as the Argies are doing in the River Uruguay and sail to Panama and protest, and if that doesn't work, block both ends of the Panama canal waving FALKLAND flags. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

The only way the British can get some support from not well know politician from the Americas is to fund their trip.
    Thank you Panama.
    Another English failure.

Marcos- you show every time that you are not very clever.
Since when are the “British” or “English” involved? All this is a relationship that is developing between the democratic parliamentary associations of Panana and the Falkland Islands - I dont see where Great Britain is in there?
Read my words at 18 - please show me where the Sov issue was reffered to in and open discussion in either Panama or Falklands between those involved?
I expect in due course you will see a reciprocal visit.

So the president of panama clamps down... typical. If Panamanian law givers want to form friendship groups then they should be free to do so. If that goes against the grain of some people then let them be voted out by the electorate otherwise they should have freedom to do as they wish. Clearly Panama is not a very free country.

I love it when only 3,000 people of the Falkland Islands make the Argies nervous and jumpy!

    Boy how things have changed,
Nowadays every time the Falklanders make a noise,

The whole of south America listens , wobbles, And CFK gets more headaches lol.

    @24 Falkland Islands

Correct, you must be clutching your sides with laughter.

The Argies seem very worried about a friendship group-I would have ignored it, if I was them-instead they've shown themselves to be control freaks demonstrating how scared the Argentine government is of 3000 people.

And if Panama doesn't want money of f the Falklands so be it-I am sure plenty of people will trade with you and take your money. I wonder how much trade (or money) Argentina gives Panama?
