    The bonus will continue annually as long as Bolivia’s GDP exceeds 4.5%. The government says GDP is expected to reach 6.7% this year.

    What does that mean?

    4.5 or 6.7 % of what?

    Do they mean an increase of 4.5 or 6.7% in GDP ?

    It is fast and easy to impose on the employers to advance a double bonus for Christmas, but is the government helping the employer to generate work so as to be able to cope with such imposed expenses. If it is a small business such moneys are being forwarded from the employer's profits while the governments is doing nothing. With such impositions employers will be on the verge to close down .............

    @1 The closest I can find is the forecast GDP growth rate as of 30-09-2013. Against that is the forecast GDP (PPP) per capita. US$4,702.91. Not exactly a wealthy place, is it? On the other hand, Evo can have his own jet!
    @4 I don't think you're far off. About US$220. £136.

    Hang on a cotton picking minute! Cowpat © ChrisR 2011 has said “Bolivia’s public employees”, WTF do they make, they don’t even pay tax (they THINK they do, but it’s not). HOW can they contribute to the GDP?

    I am not at all surprised that the private businesses are upset about this, but of course Cowpat thinks it’s his RIGHT to do foolish tricks like this AND the lazy bastards who “work” for the government will love him for it.

    They are so uneducated, including Cowpat himself, that they probably do not realise the damage to the real economy that will occur through this nonsense.

    Social Inclusion is neither social in nature or inclusive in action, but hey, Cowpat isn’t paying for it is he?
