Because honestly they are quite shallow and don't offer any great insight into the subject. Honestly the tally of generic political terms really ignored the nuances and personalities on offer in this election.
People don't stand at a polling station and think they are now more 'left' or 'right' than the last time they voted. They think about what they want, aspire to and desire for themselves and their countries.
The black and white of this poorly written article misses so many shades of grey.
@2 “Chile stands out in the region as the country with the least corruption, crime and violence”
Not for much longer. Once the lefties get in, there will be a competition to see how much corruption, crime and violence they can achieve in the shortest possible time.

Maybe that is what your military was so afraid of in 1978
Not really, they were not afraid of a possible war that they knew was not going to happen.
7) I think Balza's comment are simplistic, only stating that Chile would have one because Argentina had concentrated in facing a internal enemy sinse 1955. Chile would have faced a double front (if not triple) war through a vast border. Chile wouldn't have being prepared for a 6 days war like the Israelis had in 1967... Chile would have being overrun in a matter of weeks by Peru and Argentina
@10 CD
We will have to agree to disagree on that. We have always been wary of the double front and prepared militarily and diplomatically accordingly. A double front in Chile would have rapidly turned in to a double front in Peru.

Nov 27th, 2013 - 01:00 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The lefties have ruled Chile for 20 of the last 24 years.
The achievements to which the article alludes are the result of continual improvements through political pragmatism.
