    @1 golf,

    I think England can die choking trying to swallow Brazil. England has no economic size to face Brazil.

    And your GDP is?

    @2 He didn't say England. He said UK. If you take a look at comparable figures, the GDP (PPP) of Brazil and the UK are almost exactly the same. The difference is that Brazil's is “shared” between 201,032,714 people. That of the UK is shared between 63,181,775. As a result, UK citizens are three times better off. And let's look somewhere else. Groups of MAJOR economies. Is Brazil in the G20? Yes. Is Brazil in the G8? No. Is Brazil in the G7? No. But the UK is a member of all three! But, in one respect, you are sort of right. England is the driving force. That's a FACT that little Scotland may run into like a brick wall if it's not careful. It's a pity that some Scots listen to a demagogue like Salmond. Just as you listen to Rousseff. Incidentally, do let us know when you have an air force with 827 aircraft. Most especially when you have 230 combat aircraft. Also when you have 11 nuclear-powered fleet and ballistic missile submarines. And, in about 3 years, Britain will have 2 aircraft carriers, each twice the size of yours. Can you match Britain's state of the art 407 Challenger 2 main battle tanks. No, you can't. At best, you have 285. But military capability isn't the only measure. Haven't seen any Brazilian cars on the road in Britain. How are you getting on with your Ford Kas? And, on an important level, how many people speak Portuguese? And how many speak, or try to speak, English? And all this by a “little” country less than 3% of your size!

    @ 4 Comedian

    Everyone speaks English, so it is not professional edge. I speak Portuguese, I have a differential. therefore, I am better prepared to win. You are in the commonplace. And that's not a compliment, babaca.

    Back to topic, laugh a minute as Brasso is.

    Who said that this was going to happen back in late 2012 / early 2013?

    YES, it was me!

    Mr. Market will ALWAYS have the last laugh AND the last say. The likes of Dilma and The Liar Mantega will NEVER, EVER, be able to buck the market.

    And who is Mr. Market you ask? It’s simple. WE acting individually all together make Mr. Market. What we buy, what we save, what we earn, ALL makes the market, not some bunch of corrupt, lying politicians like those that exist in SA and elsewhere.

    And, as they say in the movies, “it ain’t over yet folks”.

    @6 Brass-Neck

    Oh my! you don't know just how hysterically funny you are...
    How many in the English speaking world even want or need to learn Portuguese? And by English -speaking we will soon be able to include all of India (most of it already) and China too when the next generation completes their education.
    Portuguese will eventually fade away to be replaced by English/Spanish... you are a dying voice, fading into the wilderness but my, oh my, you make Laugh Out Loud and for that you are worth preserving for a little while longer, Bless!

    @ 7

    Why do you say that? The current account deficit in 2013 was USD 80 billion, but our capital account showed a surplus of 63 billion.
    In a GDP of 2.3 trillion, 17 billion is like a drop in the ocean.

    Irrelevant. Sensationalism of the Anglo-Saxon media. Only deceive the morons.

    LOL you think China and 1.5 billion people will ditch Chinese within the next generation?

    Narine/Toby, As I have said before, why would someone that is proficient in English choose to speak in a lesser used tongue? It is ridiculous in the extreme!
    When you speak English and you are traveling to another country most educated people and servants (waiters, bartenders, hotel staff etc) speak English. If they didn't they wouldn't be able to thrive.

    It is the same in the 31 countries I have ever traveled.

    I do speak spanish for my time living in Argentina but mostly to talk to painters, contractors, waiters, my maid, etc. I have no need to study it further. In fact when I travel to Spain I speak English, I don't even bother with Spanish.

    @11 yankee
    My post @8 was intended purely as 'troll-bait'. And it worked, as we can see @10 - 'Narine' is so upset that 'she' forgot to write in 'her' fake 'EUian' style - please compare it with all 'her' other posts.
    Outed! Exposed! And now we can discount anything and everything 'she' writes now and in the future as being false.
    Give it up Nostril. You lose!

    Brazzo, who is writing your post on #6 & #9 ??....quite a bit better that your usual shit, but obviously a joint-contribution by some friend of yours.
    But what caught my eye, was your statement “Everyone speaks English, so it is not professional edge. I speak Portuguese, I have a differential....” ...what a load of BS !! While most educated brazilians, who went to good, private schools, studied English for several years, and either speak the language well, or can 'get by', the rest do NOT really speak English, let alone their own language...Portuguse, in case you wonder what I'm talking about. The fact IS, the differential in the work market, is to speak English, French, German etc, and now, most definitely Chinese. To speak Portuguese, presuming well spoken and written, is not a differential, just a a basic requirement for anyone who wants to apply for a halfway decent job....otherwise, they are probably amongst those that end up in menial jobs that do not require much qualification.
    And next time, write your own post, you ignorant wanker !!
