A fine ship with capabilities not to be underestimated just because she is a Type 23. There are Type 23s and Types 23s and Richmond is the best of them all. Robert Pedre stands also; that man is going places.

@1 Why would anybody underestimate a Type 23 frigate? Although I am tempted to suggest that “Richmond is the best of them all” betrays some sort of personal affiliation. What's wrong with Argyll, Lancaster, Iron Duke, Monmouth, Montrose, Westminster, Northumberland, Somerset, Sutherland, Kent, Portland and St Albans?

The royal navy should always be feared and respected whatever ship is deployed..

It's no personal affiliation or anything like that. The Richmond simply has some kit, very recently acquired in a major refit, that none of the others have which puts her in her own league.

Too true she is a fine ship. I read somewhere once that the Type 23 is regarded as THE BEST anti-submarine warfare vessel in any Navy, any where. EVER.

For once, even the US is envious of the equipment that we use. I think that they are just great....... and I wish that our navy was bigger.

Fine ships, all of them and they will take some beating as well. I hope that the type 26 will continue their proud tradition when they finally come on line with the navy.
