    Can not resist this sorry! but if the Argentines had retained the Island, they would probably have minted that coin with that “hero Astiz” on one side!

    @3 Spot on.

    On the same topic, pukka Argentine historians see Gaucho Rivero as nothing more than a common murdering criminal. Yet to the K government he's some sort of national hero; imagine the Bank of England putting Dick Turpin on a banknote?

    Well, everything else is korrupt in RG land, why the hell should its own history be exempt from being korrupted!

    I don't know, a tenner with Mad Frankie or Ronnie on the back would be a nce talking point.

    Imagine having to explain to an American tourist that they were infamous Bank Robbers!

    So pleased to see my story being included in the Merco Press on-line edition! The Falklands, South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands are a place I have always wanted to visit - but if I can't do so, at least I can write about the many coins & stamps issued from their treasuries. In the event I am fortunate enough to visit, the Grytviken Church is high on my list of places to see.

    In the meantime, you are all welcome to read the story as it appeared in Coin Update at: http://news.coinupdate.com/new-coin-celebrates-centenary-of-grytviken-church-3233/ There are also many other articles included about coins from the region.

    I see this coin has a face value of £2 but is described as a Crown. Isn't a Crown 5 Shillings in old money, 25p in new?

    Maybe it's a local term?
