President Dilma Rousseff said on Wednesday she will seek re-election in October, even though some are calling for the return of her popular predecessor president Lula da Silva. Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff has announced a 10% increase in social security payments as well as tax cuts for the less well-off.
The changes will affect 36 million low-income families.

Poorer voters, millions of whom benefited from rapid economic growth and expanded social safety net programs under Lula da Silva, are the main electoral base for Rousseff's center-left Workers' Party.
Not on weapons, not on luxuries, but on the people who need it the most.
I believe this may quiet down much of the opposition.
