Who the fuck celebrates a head of state's birthday?

As far as I know, only North Korea, Cuba, and Great Britain.

That says a lot right there.

Waste? No. It's called diplomacy, basically what we expect of our Ambassadors and diplomats. You see those 300 people who were invited to attend were all very important Uruguayans in business, trade and government.

It's about making friends, connections and business deals, and true to British form it is done in a subtle and dignified manner. There is no need to get all het up and hysterical about everything like Argentina does.

No need to erroneously claim that everyone on the planet supports us, like Argentina is always claiming.

And business is booming between the UK and Uruguay, and even between Uruguay and the Falkland Islands, and all Argentina can do is sulk, pout and act like a naughty child.

What a scandalous waste of Argentine taxpayers money..is there such an animal as an Argentinian taxpayer ?

Are you a British taxpayer ? Obviously not with a dago nomenclature, so, politely, it's none of your business how our Embassy conducts it affairs.

The Embassy reception was nice, but no less and no more than in previous years. Wonder why they invited the Argentines? Many Uruguayans turned their backs on them. Anti-Argentine feeling in Uruguay is growing by the day. Long live HM the Queen. Falklanders: never believe an Argentine, whether they're in charm or monster mode. Try and have as little to do with them as possible.

The Queen...a leader who is actually admired and respected. My passport says “The Minister of State for external affairs, requests, in the name of Her Majesty the Queen...” That makes me very proud.

Whether you are for or against the principle of Monarchy it is difficult to criticise the British Queen. She has been a good ambassador all her life in the service of the UK and Commonwealth. She does her duty and has never embarrassed her position.
    ....a difficult act to follow....
