At least 85 hooligans mostly Chileans were given 72 hours to abandon Brazil following their arrests for having broken into the Maracaná stadium and destroyed most of the press centre. The incidents happened minutes before the Chile-Spain match in Rio do Janeiro on Wednesday when the South American team knocked out the reigning Cup kings. Read full article

Jun 19th, 2014 - 09:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0It'll take them that long to get through the traffic to reach the airport and shop at the duty free.

I think the police are attempting to give the impression they have the situation under control. I would be surprised if they have any follow up.
...
In general I support the fans point, FIFA mafia! It is notable how readily yellow cards are awarded to some countries and how reticently they are awarded to others. Last year Spain were lucky to beat 10-man Chile 2-1, we should have sent them home then. Justice done.
CH I !
@5 They were great! I was mocked on here for supporting Chile (Obvs. after England) but they were impressive in the last WCFs. Such energy.
Jun 19th, 2014 - 01:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I didn't think for a moment the police would actually do anything. They have enough on their plate holding back the Brazilian rioters.
I agree there have been some suspect referees. Others, like Geiger last night, have done a sound job.
5@ I agree with you.....The FIFA mafia is a big scandal already....It started when the groups were made.....with a too much shameful operation to put Chile into the hardest group with the champion and vice-champion in a whole....It continued with the tickets selling before the competition started that has allowed the re-sellers have taken the stadiums and concentration camps sorrounding áreas offering the tickest freely and at the authorities wiew with prices that even the billionaires can´t afford.....Lots of people can´t buy tickets before because it were kept for re-selling.....(I thought people shouldn´t go there without tickets, anyway or prepared to enjoy the sport climate watching the games in tv).....Also, how it´s posible that the head of the FIFA have been just 2 guys in the last 50 years and the present was the second man for the former head a lot of years before get the Crown...?? Why the FIFA didn´t accept the suggestion to limits the times the head can be re-elected...?? Or the age limits propossed ....??? Anyone knows the financial statements and balance of the FIFA or what they do with the money earned or how mauch it pays to its officers....???? Anyone knows one opportunitie where the FIFA has punished one of the big footballer countries.....??? (d0n´t forget the banner with political statement showed by a team during a friendly match some weeks ago and very near to the world´s cup host country...)
Jun 19th, 2014 - 01:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But, of course, it´s no the way (like the well known Hooligans of past times)that Chilean fans should have have supported our team in this special ocassion, too near to the triumph over the reigning cup Spanish team and send them home...it shouldn´t have help the mood of the team if they were aware of....
The team and the coach have quality and strengh enough to do good things and we must support them with good manners......
You are learning to play good Fulbo, hermanitos Shilenos...

Jun 19th, 2014 - 09:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0At least you've still got Chile to support.
England were very poor.
England welcome to South America. We'll done Uruguay.
Jun 19th, 2014 - 10:03 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Godín should have got another yellow and been sent off for the elbow, but Suarez is a maestro.
Jun 19th, 2014 - 10:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Why take Sterling off and move Sturridge to the left? Woy made some mistakes. England need Italy to win next two games to have any chance

@18 The thing is, I don't think many people in England were expecting we would do well. Not so much disappointment as resignation here.
Jun 20th, 2014 - 06:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, I will continue to enjoy the exciting football from the Chilean team
Spend another 72 hours in beautiful Brasil and then pay for a flight home - otherwise ... I warn you ... after seeing more of our beautiful country and some great football, we will put you up, ferry you to the airport and pay for your return flight to the capital of your country.
Jun 20th, 2014 - 12:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This is the 'perfect no-brainer'.

Jun 20th, 2014 - 05:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I will laff laff laff if Chile beats Aarghh !!!
Its just football,
Jun 20th, 2014 - 06:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And Italy has just been beaten,
Who is this mystery team, COSTA RICA, who comes from nowhere and beats two in a row,
and could well make it a hat trick,
only 2nd time in their history have they got this far,
Who is this new and imaginative team to rise among the old giants,
will they go on to beat the best,
watch and you will find out,
in the meantime, our England will have to play them with their air tickets ready and waiting for them,
sad but we tried..
Enjoy the world cup chaps.
@27 Marcos
Jun 20th, 2014 - 08:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This team came together at the sub-20 level, long before Sampaoli was hired. Focus your claiming-things-that-aren't-yours energy elsewhere, like 400 miles east of Ushuaia :)
An old Latin saying, 2,500 years of young, which still applies:

Jun 20th, 2014 - 10:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I remembered them very well... getting in trouble everywhere, until Bielsa and Sanpaoli taught to them how to play good futbol. Good luck with your team y no seas tan chupamedias de los ingleses :-)
These guys thougth were in Chile (where the ruling party nueva mayoria protects thieves and hooligans) but the brazilian cops said no way .
Jun 21st, 2014 - 02:26 am - Link - Report abuse 0Now everybody in Brazil met the bunch of bachelet´s voters.
