FIFA leaders are “a bunch of old sons of bitches” and could have imposed sanctions “but certainly not fascist sanctions” complained Uruguay's president Jose Mujica referring to the suspension suffered by Uruguay's scorer Luis Alberto Suárez who was banned for nine matches and with four months of complete football inactivity. If the World Cup is now organised and run by fascists, then I guess Uruguay has no desire to compete again.

Oh well. Next news story please.

How does one say 'childish tantrum' in Spanish?

This response from Uruguay shows why the punishment should have been harsher against Suarez playing for the national team, rather than punishing Liverpool.

“No Money Pepe” and his harridan wife La Tronca are a despicable pair of old Tupas who certainly do not represent the balanced section of our community.

His illiteracy and lack of diplomacy is hurting Uruguay worldwide, but he will be gone next March.

So, one of his countrymen did something pointlessly violent infront of a global audience and now he's trying to deflect the blame onto everyone else but the one responsible and trying to play the victim.

Maybe geographic proximity to Argentina is contagious...

Oh dear, Suarez has just apologised for biting. Is it me or does that rather leave his president looking a bit stupid, more stupid than usual that is, not to mention his countrymen, all of which shouting from the roof tops that it hadn't happened despite the televised footage.

This is why the rest of the world laughs at you south america.

Barcelona said they would not buy him unless he apologised publicly.

The $$$$ talks. Bullshit walks. This time hand in hand.

    His morals have not changed.

First he commits an illegal act by assaulting another player.

Then denies it. Repeat. Claims victim status.

After denying it in front of the world, he now embarrasses his fans, countrymen and President for the dollar.

What a disgusting example to set.

Utter scum. I hope he never returns to the UK. The British gave this guy a second chance. Even forgave him for past misdemeanours.

    This will not be forgotten.

It must be embarrassing to be an Uruguayan today, toes curled so much that they can use shoes two sizes smaller than yesterday.

Uruguayan Luis Suarez was banned for four months for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

Frenchman Blaise Matuidi got a yellow card for a viscous kick that fractured Nigerian Ogenyi Onazi.

You are right Pepe, FIFA is run by a “a bunch of old sons of bitches”

Too little too late. But will Mujica now say sorry for defaming FIFA?

So, Luis says he did bite, again, and he is sorry. How awkward must his national team mates feel now.

Mr Mujica, a socialist, might have thought that FIFA are “sons of bitches”, but that saying, or epithet, always includes the mothers who, presumably, in this case, are not involved ;)
If you are going to insult someone, be specific, hopefully creative, and target the matter directly.

This guy is probably going to Barcelona for an obscene, obscene amount of money.

Can I suggest a biting, biting not binding, clause in the contract.

One bite and the contract is void.

    Simples.

Uruguayan Luis Suarez banned for four months for a THIRD biting incident in as many years.

Frenchman Eric Cantona banned for four months for assaulting a fan who was screaming abuse at him.

Suarez got lightly, biting is what infants and dogs do....

It is hard to believe how some Uruguayans believe that Mr. Suarez is a hero? really? I can really imagine what a hero means then; I thought it was someone of courage, respect, character, responsibility and well you know someone who does not bite others just for the hell of it. I was even more amazed that a RCN sports commentator from Colombia went on the air on a different network news and said that the FIFA had over done its punishment, that it was too harsh. Wow...it truly amazes me the difference of culture between certain nations. I think that the value system of a law abiding citizen is different for some latin nations versus the rest of the world right?. I guess you are allowed to bite a person and it should be ok despite that millions of children and teenagers saw it on tv. I mean it is ok right? Mr. commentator from RCN and Mr. President from Uruguay? It is ok to do something wrong and just let it go or just do not do it again but keep playing right? The Colombian RCN commentator, well after all that was Colombia where you can commit a crime in the morning and be sipping coffee with your friends in the afternoon somewhere right? Well sirs, it is not ok! it may be OK where you live but not in the rest of the world. Mr. Suarez truly needs some help; he is a great player no doubt but he has issues he needs to address and specially with the world audience if he wants to continue to play in the rest of the world right Mr. RCN commentator from Colombia and Mr. President from Uruguay? very respectfully I may add.

Suarez should be banned for life for all his “deeds”. It's not only the 3 times biting of mates, but also the most unsporty situation of the world cup history: the hand-cheating against Ghana in the 120th minute in the south african world cup, where the ball would have clearly gone in and Uruguay gone home. He got red card, but it did not undo the situation, because the penalty didnt go in and Ghana lost the unfairly reached penalty shootout. Argentina has the hand of “god”, uruguay has the hand of “dracula”. Very similar nations...

BEIJING — Chinese online stores are cheekily trying to cash in on Uruguay striker Luis Suarez’s notorious bite of an opponent at the World Cup by selling bottle openers with his image.
Liverpool forward Suarez was given a four month ban from football for sinking his teeth into Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during their final group match in Brazil last month.
He was also suspended for nine internationals and fined 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000) for what was his third offence of biting an opposition player.
Popular Chinese retail website Taobao has retailers offering bottle openers in a cartoon image of Suarez, looking angry with his mouth wide open, for 16.80 yuan ($2.70).
The China Daily newspaper reported that the products were proving popular.
“I came up with the idea the night I watched the game and saw the bite,” Wang Lin, who owns an e-shop on Taobao.com, told the paper.
“It has been a good sales idea, the only problem being that the manufacturing process cannot keep up with demand,” he added.
The bottle openers are not the first fun response to Suarez’s bite — an online Swedish sex shop unveiled a “Suarez nipple clamp” in the form of the footballer’s head, teeth bared, for 33 euros ($45).
Uruguay have lodged an appeal against the ban on Suarez who later apologized for his actions.
