The Falkland Islands has an oil legislation regime that is robust and encourages investment, believes Financial Secretary Nicola Granger. Details of a law firm’s report to the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) on tax legislation in relation to the oil and gas industry, and recommendations to Government by Ms Granger, were released to the public this week in a paper that outlines the report from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. In a couple of years the Falklanders will be able to spend a couple of quid on a few million pesos and post selfies of themselves in a bath full of cash.

what do you mean in a couple of years

They can do that now without the oil money

They can also take photos of the shelves stacked with basics like toilet rolls and bread, something some argentines can do either

Is that screaming I hear from Casa Rosada?

    Ha, ha, ha.

Argentina would do well to consult the FIG for advice on how to run TDC.

“ the Falkland Islands Government believe that the legislation amendments outlined in this paper will ensure a robust regime that encourages investment.”
to encourage investment in hydrocarbon industry, the first thing you need is....COMMERCIAL OIL, you dimwits.
and that is exactly what the islets do not have.

@6. You know, there was a time when you posted moderately intelligible comments. Not sensible or intelligent, but intelligible.

Now you're down to abuse and lies like a typical argie.

It must be sad to be so desperate.

So that you can keep up, let me tell you that the “CrimConspiracy” is holding a press conference on “ICJ action against the US” that won't be happening.

And “drug-trafficking has advanced” in argieland, largely because argieland is a criminal state.

Meanwhile, argieland's inflation rate is 40%. And, next year, argie “growth” will be negative. That's “get smaller”.

@1 Idle, I'm not sure if that's going to work. I mean sooner or later the value of the paper that a two peso note is made of will exceed the face value, especially if the Venezuelan toilet paper crisis repeats itself.

    Commercial oil....hmm.

    lets see:

    350 million barrels proven
probably 150-300mmbs to be proven in the next round of appraisals with the satelitte discoveries of Sealion
    All in shallow water 500m
All flows to the surface at 9000bpd from a single vertical well

Tensioner Leg platform requires no massive onshore logistical support beyond the capabilities of the islands

Trades at +/- $5 versus Brent crude.

Totally commercial, in fact massively attractive at the Falklands tax rate of 26% and will be flowing within 4 years.

oh dear paulcedron.....looks like you havent a clue what you are talking about...but lets try some maths.

500 million barrels at $100 per barrel is $50 billion asset.
Cost to extract 5bn up front and maybe 1/2bn per year for 20 years
    leaves $35 Billion profit.
    Tax payable $9billion
    Number of islanders $3000
Income per islander $3million or $150,000 per year per islander

    LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!

    Islets...Hahahahahahahahaha

I told you before it's not a “magnetic resonator” - the device isn't a resonator. What you're looking for is a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging unit/machine.

Japan has by far has the most NMRI units per capita at 43.1 per million. The OECD average is 12.2. Put in context, if the Falklands had an NMRI unit that would correspond to ~300 per million. The population of the Falklands simply has no need for their own scanner - it would be incredibly wasteful when facilities are available only a short plane ride away.

    @ 20 Polly

So do tell, how many Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine(s) does TDC have?

AND, more importantly if you have any, HOW MANY ARE WORKING?

Not being in the OECD (even though Colombia will be soon) we can't see any argie stats on it, argies aren't in advanced society clubs like the OECD.

at least 2000 ct scanners and 500 magnetic resonators.
that´s because healthcare and education are a priority here.

I miss one comma while you forget 90% of your capitals and you think you have a come back? Right.

The arguments made are valid as the people on the 'islets,' as you call them have a higher quality of life then the average Argie, reducing the need for an expensive CT Scanner which is just a short flight away.

Oh and for your information its Conor not “connor.”

    THEY ARE NOT MAGNETIC RESONATORS.

Unless you have a reference, I don't believe you 500 NMRI machines and 2000 CT scanners. However, even if that's true, if the Falklands had one, they would have 30 times more per capita than Argentina.

“that´s because healthcare and education are a priority here.
    unlike the islets...”

As I've mentioned before the Islanders, presumably if they are good enough, get free Further and Higher education paid for by FIG in the UK. The UK has the best Universities outside the US... so... um...

The best University in Argentina is ranked 151-200 in the world with the second best not even in the top 500.

The only education that seems to be a priority in Argentina are the lies told to your entire population about the Falklands and how they were stolen from you by the evil empire 200 years ago.

“that´s because healthcare and education are a priority here.

The standard of Education in the Islands far exceeds Argentina's. Islanders don't need their own Universities-FIG pays for them to go to UK Universities-imagine how retarded they would be if they had to attend Argentine Indoctrischool or what Argentina laughingly calls Universities?

The Islanders don't need a scanner-they visit Chile to use one.

They also don't need to buy their own Eurofighters, we taxpayers help them with that gladly but we're considering sending the Battle of Britain memorial flight as it's already seen off one bunch of fascists and they'd see off your rustbuckets.

Hahaha... at least my posts aren't just a collection of pathetic insults repeated, but an actual reply to the lies you spout.

I kind of feel sorry for you, you seem to be so desperate for the Falklands. Do you honestly believe your government even wants them? It's pretty clear that they just use the “Malvinas” issue the same way your Junta did. If they really wanted them (and believed their own propaganda) they would have gone to the ICJ.

“so, if you have a stroke, brain tumor, internal bleeding, etc., you need to go to...chile for being diagnosed.”

If you had a brain tumor you would be sent to the UK or Chile for treatment but the dignosis would be done by the local doctors. There's not much point in having treatment facilities that'll end up becoming storage cupboards because they haven't been used for 5 years.
I know I shouldn't respond to Paul as his default setting is deliberatly obtuse (I hope).
