As it is 30 mins down the road, we went to support them last night at the Estadio Algarve, had a great time and good atmosphere and €20,00 a ticket. Just wondering if this is the first time that 2 countires have played 2 full international home matches in the same country at the same time?
Congratulations Gib on another little piece of history.

Well done Gib. 7-0 against a full Polish national side is not a bad result. Just wait until you get some of these sides at home !!

Congrats Gibraltar. If gonna lose, do it in style!
    :-)
A valiant effort. Takes a lot of bravery knowing that you are completely out-gunned but to play with good humour and to still try your best.
Gibraltar can be proud of these plucky chaps.

As @2 said, Recognition is the real winner here. No more claims from Spain.

“Gibraltar's debut in the 2016 European Championship ends in 7-0 loss with Poland”
    LOL
Not to mention that Poland is the #61 (SIXTY ONE) in the FIFA rankings.

“Gibraltar's competitive football debut ...blablabla... when the team predominantly made up of amateurs...blablabla...”
    So what?
Los Pumas are also a team made up of amateurs and they were the 3rd best in the WC of 2007.

Now I want to see the mighty Falklands football team.
    LOL

even Scotland did much much better against Germany (2-1).
*10 You must have felt lonesome in a 30.000 stadium and only 1.000 spectators!!
The Portuguese , who need the money, must have been dissolutioned with you lot....ummmmmmm

You guys really are pathetic. Gibraltar, with a population of around 30,000 was unlikely to beat Poland (population 40 million). Moreover, due to the pathetically childish actions of Spain blocking their participation in UEFA they haven't really had the time to get much high-level practice have they.

San Marino with a population slightly above Gibraltar have played Poland 8 times and have lost 8 times conceding 33 goals for 1 scored.

#9 We will never see a Falkland Islands team playing in any FIFA competition because Argentina are so childish they would block any entry into CONMEBOL.

    Pathetic children.

@ #9, Glad you recognise the Falklands as an international team, something your country does not

Actually, Falklands could play in the European competitions, as they are recognised by the EU

Yeah, aussiesunshine. I mean, you'd never see the Spanish national team losing by, say, 5 goals.

In their defence it was 5-1, though it was against a country a third of their size ;)

I'm pretty sure they know the rules of the game, after all as you keep mentioning they are after all the ancestors of the very people who first codified them. If your comment was more about the quality of the football do you really expect a community of 3000 people to be able to compete against countries thousands of times bigger. You really are an idiot aren't you.

Gibraltar, the newest member of UEAFA.
Why shouldn't little countries get to play with their bigger neighbours?
    It's only a game.
Good to get the recognition tho.

    blabla... community of 3000 people...blablabla.
that is not an excuse, you asshole
pigüé is a community of 10.000 people and they have produced the best polo players in the world during ages.

Polo, football? what does it matter? No matter the origins, both were to have their rules first codified by the British.
British rules that the world adheres to.
I think there is a lesson in that.

Hardly a disappointment. You can't be disappointed at a predictable outcome.
No one expected them to win. Everyone expected them to do their best and try to have a good game. They did that.
It is great that they are now fully recognised by UEFA.
    Bet the Spanish are sulking....

    Haha!
In UK English the game is called Draughts.
Checkers is an Americanism. I would have expected such a dedicated Anglophile to have known that.
