I expect the Argentine navy will be manning the rowboats to protest, while the FALKLANDS Government will defend the rig with nuclear penguins. Oh I forgot the “ toothfish” they need to attack the rowboats.

#4 Why are we losers? Even if oil drilling doesn't start at least we have a self sustaining community and will continue to rely on the fishing industry and tourism.

Lol paulcedron is so stupid. Surely you are the losers because we are on the Falklands, and you are not. But your welcome to come and visit, get a nice FIG customs stamp in your passport. Have you ever visited? I never understood the Argentine obsession with a place they have never seen with there own eyes, only in books and film.

Then why do you want it so much? Whats wrong with living in the Falklands? little crime, friendly people, but i suppose i grew up here and see it differently to others. Sure, i know we don't have a CT scanner and a University but home is home, although its not always the most exciting place lol. So if your not interested in this place, and think so little of it, are you pro malvinas?

@4. We can see you've got your 'brain' working. Pretty weak, kiddikins. Don't you have some 'inside' argie information? Hasn't argieland stolen the seismic survey results and interpreted them to show there's nothing there?
@9, 12. You're not getting any better. Who has hundreds of legal judgements against them all around the world? Not the Falkland Islands. Who doesn't comply with the laws of the legal jurisdiction it chose? Not the Falkland Islands. How are things at the World Trade Organisation? Still losing? Who is in breach of the UN Charter? Not the Falkland Islands. Who doesn't have a floating 'navy'? Not the Falkland Islands. How's the fishing? Who's the loser?

The estimates are 350 million barrels in the north and 700 million barrels in the south. That should keep the UK oil rich for some time to come. The Islands offered to share it with Argentina and they said no.........jealous much?

Exactly, paulcedron is one these people who thinks he can say whatever he wants on the internet because he believes in the anonymity of the internet (people with some advance computer knowledge could quite easily find out where hi is). Doubt he would be so vocal in person. So paul, answer my question, do you or do you not support Argentina's claim over the Falklands? Its a simple question, even for you. Prove to everyone that your not some tasty little internet troll and try and engage in adult conversation.

you are not too bright, are you?
one thing is what i think about the islets and another is the fact that they were robbed by a bunch of squatters.
more or less the same as what happened with gibraltar and north ireland.
3 different problems and 1 common denominator: england

  • brianF.I

Well were not squatters, no more than the Argentine's are. Even if Argentinas claim was true we have been here for about 180 years, that makes this OUR land and gives us the right to decide our future. Argentines don't have to give there land back to the natives, same with the USA, because you have been there so long. And doesn't Argentina have enough already? by rights argentina should be one of the most powerful and influential in the world, why aren't you? rampant corruption and poor management.

We have a nice little country, we look after our environment and are largley self sustaining, Argentina would ruin all we have worked for since the war, however little it may seem to you.

What you forget is that 'Conquest and Subjugation' was a perfectly legal mode of obtaining territory right up to the early 20th century. This is how Argentina legally obtained title to Patagonia.

Bravo Falkland Islands! Please forgive my countrymen that are currently making too much noise, drinking too many pisco sours and cups of wine. Bear with all the aromatic smoke from the parrillas loaded with cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken as they celebrate our day of independence. ¡Viva Chile! Enjoy an empanada and know we are with you, despite what some of the politicians in Chile say.

“one thing is what i think about the islets and another is the fact that they were robbed by a bunch of squatters”.

So, nobody in Argentina wants to live in a CT scanner- less void, can't hack the weather, there's nothing in the Falklands at all that interests any skyscraper obsessed Argentine-and you think you've been robbed??

    Errrr?

As none of you Argies want to live there, how come you think you have lost something?

You describe the people that want to live and thrive there as squatters, but they can't be taking anything away from Argentina,as no Argentines actually want to live in the Falklands-you lot are seriously f***ed up headcases!

Your arguments make no sense whatsoever.

There are shitloads of resources in Argentina that you can't/won't even extract/exploit but hardly any in the Falklands(by comparison with Argentina's), which you moan you haven't got.

    ?????

The marvellous mystery of Argentine 'logic.'

and in the end, you have learnt some mild porteño insults.
nabo is almost a lovely way to call them idiots.
no doubts your amigos from the islets are a bunch of nabos.

they confuse what i think about the islets in terms of economic potential, natural attractions, level of education, etc, with a sovereignty issue.
clearly they are not the brightest of the bunch.

Your header should read “inexperienced investor” what is happening to the share prices is typical for a hydro company going through this phases of their long term project.

This morning that investor will be relieved though that the combined might on the UK is set to continue for some time yet.
