Excellent news. Chile has a great untapped tourism opportunity. It will be a great asset to the Chilean economy.

IMO the most popular areas are already visited enough. For example Torres del Paine receives about 100.000 visitors a year if I am not mistaken, mostly in the summer months. Last time I was there in summer I found it to be busy enough. I will be down there again two weeks from now enjoying some off-season walking :)

I would prefer to see prices kept high and numbers kept low, it is better for the economy and better for the environment. There are 4 hoteles near or in the park that charge over USD 1000 / night for a standard room, that is the way to go.

Unfortunately the people who are employed to increase tourism, often measure their results in number of visitors. The risk being that you can ruin what enabled you to charge so much in the first place.

@2 Fair point but it is in Puerto Varas so I hope they have the sense to include many of the untapped areas too. 'Adventure' covers a lot.
