At the annual conference of the whole CPA in South Africa in September 2013, MLA Elsby tabled a motion seeking support and recognition of the results of the referendum, in which 92% of the electorate voted and of those 99.8% voted to remain as a British Overseas Territory.

There was unanimous support from all countries of the CPA, recognising the referendum as free and fair and being a true reflection of the wishes of the Falkland Islanders.

At this year's conference in Yaounde there was again tremendous support for the Falkland Islands.

So here is the list of the Democratic States:

    Alderney
    Antigua and Barbuda
    Australia
    The Bahamas
    Bangladesh
    Barbados

    Lesotho
    Malawi
    Malaysia
    Maldives
    Malta
    Mauritius
    Montserrat
    Mozambique
    Namibia
    Nauru
    New Zealand
    Nigeria
    Niue
    Norfolk Island
    Pakistan
    Papua New Guinea
    Samoa
    Scotland
    Seychelles

I like these Falkland Island people. I think they are very brave. Why does Argentina want to take their little country? Argentina is big, they have lots of land, Why they want to take other's?

Even with a No in a referendum, Scotland is still a country in its own right with a government with devolved powers.

Wales and Northern Ireland, too, have devolved powers. Scotland is NOT a separate nation! Like England, Wales and Northern Ireland Scotland is part of the UNITED KINGDOM in spite of that weird individual Alex Salmond!

    and democratic?
that useless viceroy you have there, if you did not realize it, was elected by the queen, what democracy are you talking about, you boludous?

as for the members of that joke of commonwealth, most of them are failed african states, little colonies, tax havens and stuff.

53 democratic countries, says the 4th class newspaper...haha

“and democratic? that useless viceroy you have there, if you did not realize it, was elected by the queen, what democracy are you talking about, you boludous?”

The Falkland Islanders just affirmed their continued acceptance of the constitutional situation. That combined with the fact that they hold a large degree of self-government surely demonstrates they are democratic.

“as for the members of that joke of commonwealth, most of them are failed african states, little colonies, tax havens and stuff.”

Do you ever get bored of being so wrong?

    - The nations of the Commonwealth has 2.1 billion citizen (~30% of the worlds population)
    - Only 18 of the 53 nations are in Africa (not “most”). The colonies (I assume you are referring to the British Overseas Territories) are not independent members of the Commonwealth. Please name the Tax Havens?
    - 4 of the top 10 countries by HDI are in the Commonwealth.

Scotland is a separate nation with some devolved powers, same as wales and northern island. Ironically, england is a separate nation too but without devolved powers at present.

They all form part of the UK under one central parliament and government for main issues and one sovereign

The Commonwealth also has separate governments but one sovereign

No matter what Argentina says, they do not have the support of most of the world.

“islets and education in the same sentence?”

Yes-their standard of education far surpasses that of Argentina.

For example:CFK calls herself as lawyer, with no evidence she ever passed a law exam=Argentine style education

    “and democratic?”

Yes, as the self determination referendum arranged entirely by FIG in 2013
    showed.

“what democracy are you talking about, you boludous?”

The Falkland Islands Government-the Governor is not allowed to vote, you simpleton.

    “and stuff.”

You the Argentine education system to be stuck in the stone age as 'and stuff' doesn't mean anything.

I live in leafy Surrey and my conception of nationhood is clearly different to yours. The United Kingdom is a NATION of which England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are parts. I am not a citizen of England I am a citizen of the UK just as the Scots, the Welsh and Ulstermen are.

    Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)

Scotland has a parliament, Wales and NI do not.

Originally Scotland had an assembly, then they decided their assembly was a parliament and no one argued.

You don't seem to have travelled too much or have met many citizens of the United Kingdom. I was an expatriate for many years and at gatherings of the British communities in the various countries I lived in we were all British and citizens of the United Kingdom. The fact that we may have been born in England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland was totally irrelevant.
    @20 Swiss Bob
Don't be naive - of course, Wales and Northern Ireland have “parliaments”, they just call them “assemblies” out of choice just as at one time Scotland chose to call their “assembly” a “parliament”.

Yes. All the time, and that's how I introduce where I'm from. So add this one to the millions more: I'm first and foremost British, followed by Tyke, and then English, resident somewhere along the south coast of England.

Neither the Welsh Assembly nor Northern Ireland Assembly are part of the CPA. No idea why, they have roughly comparable powers to Scotland.

The CPA admits not only sovereign nations to its membership, but also regional/state assemblies of Commonwealth members. So for example in addition to the national government there are state legislatures represented from India, Nigeria, Canada, Australia, as well as the devolved parliaments/assemblies of the UK (Scotland, Wales, etc, the Overseas Territories and the Crown Dependencies (channel Islands and Isle of Man).

Its purpose is to promote and support Parliamentary Democracy, good governance and the rule of law.

when we go abroad and these pesky foreigners [lol] ask us who we are,
we reply [ we are British ] if any wish to elaborate where in Britain, we say, Hertfordshire in England,
    does that seem ok.

remember Education, or lack of, once we were told to be proud to be British, now a minority have tried to alter this, its called nationalism, and its not to good,

now I may well be totally wrong,
but the way I see the future, you are either British, or European

their is no middle ground, except stupidity or brainwashed into believing the 17 virgins are real,,,
What has virgins got to do with this, well one conn deserves another,
its not what you want, or even what you consider yourself to be,

its what you government or leader wants,
and that sadly is a fact,

the SNP wishes and wants to join the unmighty EU,
and that gentlemen answers all your future questions,
    EUROPEAN or BRITISH.

Being a fascist in a bankrupt , failed state must be so frustrating at times .
Oh ,to hark bark to the good old days , when thousands were thrown out of planes and the Kirchners made money out of quietly winding up and selling off their estates (patrimonio ) , in co -operation with the local military authorities .
And to have lost to Brazil , too ? Oh, the shame .

I was also right about Scotland only 8% chose British as their identity...
I guess it's you that hasn't travelled much or met many citizens of the United Kingdom.....
Next time don't confuse your personal views with what most people in the UK Think!!...

”What emerges from the census results is that, while a MAJORITY of people in England, Scotland and Wales pick English (60%), Scottish (62%) or Welsh (58%) as their sole identity, younger and more diverse communities show higher proportions selecting a British identity.”
