Dozens of Argentine military officers who were complicit in crimes against humanity in the country during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship had been sent to Spain for training, new documents revealed this week. Read full article
Argentine officers were also trained in the U.S. and helped the United States fight in Central America. What's your point?
We used Argentina's Military thugs to do our dirty work in Nicaragua and then are surprised when the mad dogs go against their handlers?
Another smokescreen to take people's eyes off the current economic catastrophe .
Remember the mysterious fleet of Ford Falcons found last year ?
Nothing heard about them since .
Just like Great Britain trained the dictators in Brazil or Gadaffi in libya or Saudi Arabia or other Gulf Dictators that do their military training in Sandhurst or Idi Amin who served in the British colonial army in Kenya.......and so on.........
what a silly article Mercopress.
I was wondering if anyone has any direct information of US involvement in the Dirty Wars? I've been following some of these incidents, i.e. Iran-Contra and Vietnam Drug Connections, for a number of years and have discovered some information of activity by military advisers in Argentina. Anyway, if anyone has any information please contact me.
If cultures made up by feral subhumans want to sit dictators on top, that's their problem, not ours.
The only country in south america who seem to have grown out of that bollocks is Chile. The whole Pinochet thing was embarrassing, even moreso that we supported him, but ever since they seem to have developed an economy that actually works while all the nations around them flounder about with varying levels of authoritarian populist nonsense and socialism.
Maybe one day the rest of latam will grow up, but given the state of the southern european nations you get your original bloodlines and cultures from I don't hold out much hope.
I wonder how successful Latam would be if the indigenous people's genes influenced it rather than the fault ridden Spanish gene that pollutes the continent?
Although that could be a flawed theory if Cowpat @ Chris R (2012?)doesn't have Spanish DNA.
I thought that the French military had also advised some of the torturers in Argentina particularly with the techniques of throwing persons out of planes over the ocean?
@18 Flores . From the early sixties 'till the early 80's there were French advisers at the Escuela Superior de Guerra . They were there to teach torture methods , including such neat tricks as how to electrocute people in the genitals with the generator from a field telephone .
So f*cking what ?
These lessons were gleefully accepted by the military who were fighting a bitter war against the ERP /FAL/Montoneros , who used similar and even worse methods of torture and who kidnapped and tortured innocent people as well .
The difference ?
The former military are in jail and the guerillas are now cabinet ministers .
Both different sides of the same coin .
So please , please , do not try to blame the French or the Americans for the human rights shortcomings of Argentina .
@20Usurping. I am not trying to blame either side. I understand it just the way you do. My questions simply go to what the military was doing and who was advising the military. As to the ERP/FAL/Montoneros many of them also became important individuals in other countries as well but I'm interested in American involvement in activities such as this in Argentina and around the world.
@23 The US is not the root of all evil . During the Vietnam war US prisoners reported being tortured by the Chinese , the Russians , the Czechs , the East Germans and the Cubans .They weren't after information , just practice .
The US Embassy during the Carter administration did a hell of a lot to help the families of the desaparecidos during the worst years (76-79 ) and to try to stem the violence , so don't believe all this Camporista revisionist crap that it was the Americans behind all the excesses during the Proceso .Quite the opposite , they refused to sell the Junta arms .
The ERP and the Montos on the other hand , did all they could to attack US interests in the country , just like now .

Oct 25th, 2014 - 07:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0today we should be living in tranquil peace,
instead of fearful future violence by Argentina,
what a shame they want to live in such a past,
