The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) announced the appointment of Tudor Morgan to the full-time position of Environmental Manager. Tudor’s overall role is to support safe and environmentally responsible tourism to Antarctica, with a particular focus on field operations.
IAATO Executive Director, Dr Kim Crosbie said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Tudor to the Secretariat team. He brings with him a wealth of polar experience, with varying perspectives on the tourism industry. His diverse background will be a huge asset to IAATO with its wide range of stakeholders and commitment to operating in Antarctica to the highest safety and environmental standards.”
After graduating with a degree in geology, Tudor’s first job was with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) where he was ultimately responsible for air and field operations. Later, Tudor worked as the Operations Manager for the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) for five years, in charge of risk, environmental management, logistics, staff recruitment and training. For his conservation and educational work with the Trust and an Antarctic career spanning almost two decades, Tudor was awarded the Queen’s Polar Medal in 2013.
Tudor said, “IAATO is continually rising to meet new and varied challenges so this is an exciting opportunity for me. I value their obligation to enthuse and empower visitors about Antarctica’s global significance while conducting operations that safeguard both the environment and those who operate there.”
