Keep saying that I wish I could go. Oh, to have a friend that owns/runs a travel company. But I wouldn't want to land anywhere in latam. UK - Ascension Island - Falklands is the route for me. But why is it so hard to get suitable arrangements and answers. The only way to use that route is, apparently, with the RAF. But what about parking one's car safely at Brize Norton? What if the RAF suddenly needs to move extra troops? Apparently, you need special permission to land on Ascension Island. But there isn't anywhere else to land! And when you arrive in the Falklands, is a British passport enough? What about accommodation? Is it reasonably priced? I'm a pensioner. What about food? Is that British and reasonably priced? How about getting out and about? Can you hire vehicles? For how much? Mobile phones? Radios? What about visiting other islands? Do visitors get charged 'tourist' prices? See there's so much that needs to be answered. And how long is a decent trip? Who'd want 10 days with 4 of them taken up with travelling?

“Visiting the Falklands ”was something really special and will hold a place in my heart – I certainly recommend a trip like this””

it seems millions of tourists do not agree with the old witch, huh?

You are consumed with bitterness and jealousy. Sue Cook is a well known and well liked TV presenter in the UK, there isn't anything unpleasant about her at all.

Has your president had anyone executed today?

@2 www.falklandislands.com and www.falklandislandsholidays.com will give you loads of information. Both appear at various travel shows through the UK as well, so you might see them there.
In short your q's: Parking is fine at Brize - you can book a place when you have your flight booked. Or get a taxi from Oxford.
If the RAF need to move extra troops quickly, then there are bigger things to worry about than not being able to park (but I wouldn't worry about it myself).
Landing in Ascension is fine - it's all part of the flight and makes a fab stop off for a few days in tropical heat (sea turtles and land crabs and amazing fishing/bird watching)
British passport is fine for the Falklands - you need a visa, but again not a problem with a UK passport.
Food is whatever you want - influences from the UK and South America, but is as international as everywhere else. Yes, it's reasonably priced, but bear in mind a lot of things are flown in, so some items are not as easy to get as they would be in Tesco.
You can hire a vehicle, but much better to get local guides to take you places or FIGAS to fly you to outer islands.
Mobile phones work on a different network, wifi hotspots are available however.
My next trip is only 14 days, but you can cover a lot in that time - check FIH itinerarys (or they can custom one for you based on your interests)

“ But I wouldn't want to land anywhere in latam.”

Don’t tell me you are frightened: you with all the blood and guts hang ‘em and flog ‘em and why doesn’t Uruguay attack Argentina (3M vs 42M) AND lambasting me for living in Uruguay but you won’t land here yourself.

HA, HA, HA, HA, HA. I thought you at least HAD a pair!

Oh, it’s going to be a LONG time before I forget this.

@5. Thanks for that. I shall consider carefully.

@7. Stupid git. Travelling internationally, there are many things that I have available that I can't carry. For instance, in the UK I can carry knives up to and including my kukri. Beyond that I can carry piercing 'instruments'. Ones that you would regret if I rammed them in your throat.

And there are my guns. Telescopic and IR sights, automatic. Couldn't carry them either.

Tell us, would you expect the SAS, Paras or Royal Marines to land in civvies without weapons?

In latam, I don't know where the dangers are. Given the equipment, I'd probably kill or disable anyone who got within 5 feet.

You don't have much idea, do you? At 65 years of age I can't necessarily do what I used to be able to do. That's called risk assessment.

But why would I listen to a fart-arse traitor? All being well you will be permanently excluded from MY country. You are neither needed nor wanted. Even at my age, I would put on MY country's uniform and fight. Whose uniform, if any, would you put on? Sorry, I forgot the history. Latams and cowards were gutless neutrals. Just like you.

Let me just correct you on a few of the fallacies you have written:

“For instance, in the UK I can carry knives up to and including my kukri. Beyond that I can carry piercing 'instruments'. Ones that you would regret if I rammed them in your throat.”

Not so without the ubiquitous ‘good reason’. You cannot even carry a plastic bodied extending hobby knife without risking arrest: but you know that, don’t you?

“And there are my guns. Telescopic and IR sights, automatic. Couldn't carry them either.”

So you have a Sect 5 Ticket do you, OR do you mean 0.22rf lr SEMI-automatic rifle(s)?

BTW you are only a member of the SAS, etc. IN YOUR DREAMS!

Your final paragraph is so ridiculous it’s not worth replying to other than to suggest a visit to the doctors to have your head examined! Ha, ha, ha.

Don’t like it when YOU are singled out, do you?

I know, but after 42 months here and 'Conqueror' taking the piss out of Uruguay for not 'settling' TDC and now he is apparently scared to show his face in MVD, I just had to wind him up a bit: and BOOM!

    :o)

I would just like to point out that 'millions of tourists' would spoil the unblemished environment of the FIs. It is so special because of the low numbers. Quality, not quantity.

    indeed Sir!
News of my demise are hugely overrated!
haha! I have just been 'off the grid' in the mountains for a while.

However there has been a massisve increase in motochorros crime in Vnzla.
Unfortunately it is now necessary to have an armed driver/bodyguard in town these days.....
.... gotta love the socialism going on there.... makes everyone equal... crime is the only game... so sad....

    Thanks ChrisR ☺

The current chavista regime is one giant malign death squad .

And I am not being over dramatic. The country is dieing on its knees.
A fucking tragedy. It is shocking how bad it has got since 10 years ago.
I could weep for what they have done to the place.
    Seriously.
