“The people of Basel do not own these, and they can be taken away at any moment,” said the museum in a statement bemoaning the work's loss.”

Well, isn't that person a grateful little arsehole “bemoaning” a free loan of a masterpiece. If they are so fond of it why didn't they buy it themselves? Ah, no money I suspect.

I'm reminded of the Iranian govts own rich, varied and staggering expensive art collection, accumulated during the Shah's regime. Being examples of 'decadent' western art none of it can be displayed for the public. Of course if they truly had the courage of their convictions they'd throw it on a bonfire.

You walk into a gallery. On the left is “When Will You Marry Me” framed and lit to show itself in its finest glory. On the right is a stack of 300,000,000 dollar bills.

Which catches and holds your attention for longer and which would you rather take home?

At last an opportunity for a late night rant....or is it morning....
How can anyone admire his work...the syphilitic ridden paedophile....
Not that I would expect many on here to know anything about him....
I wonder which sex slave is he portraying....
Which of the three native brides aged 13 and 14 they are.......
The creep left his wife and five kids moved to the South Pacific and called his hut...La Maison du Jouir (The House of Orgasm)....
....and I also blame him for the early death of one of my favourite artists Van Gogh...
Whatever next...maybe we should start playing Gary Glitter records, collect Rolf Harris paintings or a Jim'l Fix It badge....
    ....I don't see a difference.....

    The difference is $300 million.

Art might stir emotions but in business they need to be held in check. As anyone who has run a business successfully would know.
