The biggest problem facing the people in West Africa affected by this disease is ignorance.

It took the WHO far too long to pull its finger out and send in help that the disease got out of control. The locals, therefore, lost faith in the international agencies that were meant to help and turned instead to their traditional 'witch' doctors.

There is a lot of ignorance about the disease and how it is spread, so the main priority should be to educate the people on its transmission and the best ways to protect themselves.

But I fear, as always, they will treat those who are already ill because they are in the public eye, and not bother spending money on the education programmes needed.

So even when this outbreak is contained, the next outbreak of ebola or other disease will be a repeat of this, and the same things will happen. Nothing will have been learned.

Ebola is contagious that makes it very dangerous because it could spread worldwide. However Malaria kills more people in a month than have ever been killed by Ebola, but its contained to the tropics.

#6 As does influenza, however they work different and usually only the weak or young die from the flu.
