The government has been building up to this for some time now. Having to announce that there will be an announcement soon shows they are worried.

'Free' gasoline in Venezuela is the sacred cow that no politician wants to slaughter.
They have been ignoring the problem for years, decades even.

Keep it 'light'. Ten bolivars per litre. Plus 75% tax. 'Uncle' bus driver needs a new pair of shoes. And a new hat. What do you get for a prat who has nothing? Apart from a bullet. Mrs MADurine has been heard to complain that it's only his head and his feet that get bigger.

Please, let us be realistics. The Government pictures that “ economic war” is due to the result of local business owners hiding consumers goods.
Well, that is incorrect statement, because private business is about 56% of the micro economy and 27% of the macro economy. However, Public management has full access to Fiscal Policies and either of those branches have made economic improvements in the last decade.
Crude oil exports have not generated as it was expected, in fact, Venezuela national budget was elavorated based on 95 USD per barril of oil. We know that is not the case since the current barril of oil is $ 54.oo
The Government is in the process to reduce expenses and investment, meaning unemployment will increase while cash flow will be reduced as well.
Venezuela needs to “Dolarize” ist confused currency three rates.

    1. I think there's a lot of sacred cows about to fall all over the world. The 60 yrs of progressive policies are on their last legs...everywhere.

#. I think the V budget was based on $140/bl oil. Everyone keeps talking about Citgo being seized.
    That would be hilarious.

    @4
A couple of years ago the Chavistas were crowing that the budget was based on $68/bl oil. When the price was about $110.
    So proud of themselves. (!!!)
No explaination was made about where the rest of the money was being spent...
...now the gov has gone very quiet on this...
Recently/last year both the FT and The Economist reckoned Vnzla needed $117-$120 to balance the budget.

I think you maybe confused between what the experts say and the lying bollocks that that is spouted by the Chavistas. They are never going to admit publicly that it is actually $14o.
Although Maduro did go on an OPEC tour pan-handling for support, so maybe that is what he was saying privately, and it leaked.

So much BS comes spewing out of Vnzla's Regime it is hard to keep track!

The country is an utter mess.

3-6 months, I give it. Then, boom, massive implosion.

I should have all the family out by then.

    Pity the rest.
