Cristina Fernandez will complete her mandate, 'despite wanting to be kicked out'

Former Uruguayan President Jorge Batlle said that Argentine President Cristina Fernandez “wants to be kicked out of government”, replicating Argentine opposition comments.

 Battle had previously made controversial statements towards Argentina when he was in office, saying all Argentines 'from A to Z' are “thieves”. He later apologized to then caretaker president Eduardo Duhalde.

Talking to a radio show on Wednesday, the former president said Cristina Fernandez will finish her mandate “normally” and added: “But she is eager to be kicked out by someone.”

“Everyone will help her [finish her mandate]. But she has an exotic mentality; she wakes up in the morning and thinks: ‘Well, who am I going to pick a fight with today?’” Batlle said.

Argentina is holding general elections next October, and on 10 December Cristina Fernandez will be handing the presidential sash to whoever is elected to succeed her and puts an end to 12 years of Kirchnerism, Nestor and Cristina.

Batlle’s statements echo Argentine opposition leader Elisa Carrio, who said CFK is allegedly planning a “self-coup” for Sunday’s opening of Congress sessions.

The former Uruguayan President also aimed at Pope Francis, saying he is “too fond of Kirchnerism”.

“He [the Pope] is saying terrible things. Regrettably, populism thrives in certain sectors of the Catholic Church,” he said.

“When these people get out of government [meaning Kirchnerism], Argentina will make a huge jump forward. Today, amid a world crisis and making great mistakes, Argentina has grown more than Brazil,” Batlle concluded.

In Buenos Aires Secretary General to the Presidency Anibal Fernandez told media that Civic Coalition MP Elisa Carrio is “absolutely dirty” condemning the lawmaker’s recent statements about a “self-coup” allegedly planned by Cristina Fernandez for Sunday’s opening of Congress sessions.

“Is anyone going to attend what (Elisa) Carrio says, who is absolutely dirty from where you want to look at her?” Fernandez said on Wednesday as he arrived at the government house.
“What she has made up is stupid.”

Elisa Carrio urged opposition MPs not to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Congress sessions that will be headed by Cristina Fernandez saying that “security conditions are not ripe,” accusing the head of state of planning what she called a “self-coup”.

“She cares nothing about her mother, women, others’ kids, and she insults and insults,” the ex senator added. “That woman has no peace,” he insisted and criticized Carrio also for her political decisions.
