Argentina's message to UK and US: “utterly ridiculous considering any regional country a threat.”

Sunday, April 12th 2015 - 07:36 UTC
Full article 65 comments

Addressing the Americas summit in Panama, Argentine president Cristina Fernandez strongly criticized United States policies towards the hemisphere, particularly Venezuela, and expressed 'surprise' at the parallelism between the Caracas/Washington current dispute and the latest round of Falklands' exchanges between London and her government. President Barack Obama was not present during the Argentine leader's speech on Saturday. Read full article

“Nobody can believe that the UK has declared that Argentina remains a risk, a threat to the Malvinas Islands: it is utterly absurd.

1st - didn't NASA find the Malvinas in the sea of tranquillity lool
2nd - YOUR 'Government' has already stated you would attack the Falklands if the British garrison wasn't there. Shut up and start to engage yer brain (IF you've got one) before engaging yer gob!

“Nobody can believe that the UK has declared that Argentina remains a risk, a threat to the Malvinas Islands: it is utterly absurd. But ”I must also confess I was surprised at the similarity of stances: in my country we have suffered terrible dictatorships, but with them they (both) had cordial relations“. and “”here is the UK declaring my country a threat to its own territory, the Malvinas Islands: 2.3% of UK’s budget is allocated to defense. It is also absurd”

    Big deal - what strange statements! She really is a ”payasa“ right out of the circus! But a loneliest she admits that the Falklands/Malvinas are British territory!(viz:”my country a threat to its own territory”}

”history teaches, not to remember, but to understand why things happened in the past“.

A truism if ever I heard one. We were caught napping in 1982 because we did not believe the threat and have taken action to remedy this.

If no one is a threat then why is Argieland trying to buy military equipment?

Who are they 'protecting' themselves from?

I see three words that Kirchner doesn't seem to comprehend. 'Threat', 'risk' and 'security'. In the concept of 'security', 'threat' and 'risk' are almost synonomous. It matters not whether the possibility is 0.1%, it's still a 'threat'/'risk'.
Venezuela's 'threat' to the U.S? In 2007, Venezuela 'nationalised' American oil companies. Venezuela accounts for around 800,000 barrels per day of oil imported by the USA. Oil is therefore significant. So is the corruption of Venezuelan 'officials'. And MADurine is a psychotic lunatic.

As for argieland and the Falkland Islands. That old argie minister of defence said that, but for the British garrison, argieland would invade the Islands again. Timdick has 'predicted' that argieland will 'control' the Islands within 20 years. That was 2 years ago. Argieland is attempting to purchase Chinese jet combat aircraft. It will take years. But then, perhaps, a LAN commercial aircraft, like an Airbus A320-200, lands with 150, mostly argie, 'passengers' aboard. The argies turn out to be an assault force that took over the aircraft at Punta Arenas. For the sake of loading their weapons. The assault force mission is to enable the landing of CAS JF-17 fast jets and disable the RAF's Typhoons. There's the threat. JF-17s operating out of Mount Pleasant to cover the arrival of Malvinas class corvettes. Will Britain's Rapier batteries shoot down a Chilean commercial aircraft? Are there enough British troops to keep the Typhoons, Hercules and Voyager safe?

But gord01 has a point, Kirchner has finally admitted that the FALKLAND ISLANDS are British. Thanks for that.

And British troops WILL fight to the death. Because they know how much depends on them. Will a Typhoon get airborne? Then those corvettes will next 'dock' at the bottom of the ocean. Another 120 argies headed for hell!

It is bizarre that she goes on about “our Malvinas”, (wherever that is) but carries out piratical practices at the same time - impounding Falklands flagged vessels for fishing Argentine waters. This she has done at least three times in recent years, demanding £500,000 reparation fees before letting them go.
It also annoys me that she cites the British military for spending money on replacing systems and refitting accommodation, when she is actually building up her military. What little they have had for the last few years has been adequate - no-one has attacked them, or even shown the inclination to do so. I doubt that the United Kingdom has any great desire to invade RGland!
There is a tangible threat from RGland, look at what Timerman said the other week. And the ravings from mad Alicia. I wouldn't be at all surprised if RGland is, and has, been spying on Mt Pleasant! In fact, I'd be surprised if they hadn't.

You jealous fools! Glorious President Cristina has humiliated the western predjuiced bullies with the stunning truth of Argentina's rightful possession of the entire South Pacific which includes obviously Las Malvinas that was stolen from Argentina by the thieving English pirates in 1982. Let them hang their heads in total shame for their despicable crimes and finally admit their guilt.
In the spirit of this philosophy, Argentina understands therefore that Patagonia in fact belongs rightfully to Chile and asks for forgiveness for illegally occupying their territory.

I rest my case on Anglo-supremacism.

One day because of people like the two above and all the others here, some British generals, surrounded by defeated geriatric men with laser guns, and dirty child-soldiers with cut faces, will be signing the full unconditional surrender of the former United Kingdom as demanded by the Grand Trinity (Sino-Russian-Arab armies), plus their new allies the Scots, who turned on England only days prior after hanging their dictator Clyde “Conqueror” Pugol (nickname: “LEPRecon”) and his mistress ”Three-legged Skirt), in the middle of some pulverized section of London, that some say may have been once “Buckingham Palace” (before the King was killed in the dropping of the Gamma Ray-Electropulse bomb of August 6th, 2045). Even then the British refused to surrender, after most of the population had been killed by the Gamma radiation, and all equipment made useless by the electro-Pulse, so the nano-nuclear attack of August 9th destroyed most of London's buildings without even a smoke cloud, they crumbled from within).

They will be responsible for the partition of England into three-zones (Chinese, Russian, and Arab), but they have some mercy and let the Anglos (as they are called) keep Peckham and Grimsby.

But at least Anglo-Supremacism, which exterminated the Pakistani race and tried to exterminate the Argentine race, was finally quashed.

”here is the UK declaring my country a threat to its own territory, the Malvinas Islands...“ 2.3% of UK’s budget is allocated to defense. It is also absurd”

Yes, exactly. The Falklands *are* Britain's ”own territory“.

You know that warm feeling you go when you acknowledged that the Falklands belong to Britain? That's how it feels when you tell the truth.

”...2.3% of UK’s budget is allocated to defense. It is also absurd”

No. Argentina has attempted to usurp sovereignty from Britian twice before, it may not be disputed.

One of the high-ranking members of your military has suggested that our defense force is the only thing preventing a third attempt.

Why then, should we allow you the opportunity?

    You have refused good-faith negotiations.

You have refused to allow the legitimate inhabitants their right to self-determination.

You have refused to resolve your claims at the ICJ.

You have refused all diplomatic solutions, because they would *all* require you in the end, to drop your fake claim and admit you've been lying all along.

If you refuse peaceful solutions, you may not complain when we correctly assume a possible threat to our territory and citizens, and take steps to counter the threat before it becomes an actual threat.

You probably have trusted sources. Clarin? La Nacion?
I got news for you. An early April opinion poll gave Cristina around 40 per cent approval, which is huge for a president at the end of the term. The “effect Nisman” to which you sarcastically allude has collapsed and its effect on CFK's popularity quickly vanished as more complete information emerged. Primary elections in the province of Salta (the first ones to be held) have given almost 60 per cent of the votes to the status quo candidate. This is not magic, just voters' assessment beyond the opposition and their propaganda through loyal media.
With Chinese funds, Argentina will build a wind power plant in Chubut as well as dams and nuclear energy; Nissan will invest to build pick up trucks, etc. etc. Of course, much remains to be done, but the country's productive structure, debt levels and other indicators place the country in an excellent position to take advantage of the next international growth cycle.
    So much for the mess.

“Loyal” as in “loyal to the government that pays them”??

And a credible justice system, where else in the world do you get justices aligned with or against the government certainly not in the free world. They “ the justices ” should be entirely independant of the government and Nisman case should be investigated by an outside agency as it is a political matter.
