Falkland Islands' elected lawmakers received assurances in Washington that US neutrality in the sovereign dispute with Argentina does not imply any denial of the Falkland Islanders right to self determination.
We have received assurances that US neutrality on the issue of sovereignty does not imply any support for the Argentine denial of the right to self-determination, or of its continued bad behaviour towards the people of the Falkland Islands said a Falklands government release in reference to the current US visit of Members of the Legislative Assembly, Mike Summers and Phyl Rendell, MBE.
The two Falklands MLAs have completed a very successful week of calls in Washington DC, assisted by Tiphanie May MSc and Farrah Peck which included a very full program of visits with several senior US Administration staff from the State Department and NSC, plus calls on members of Congress and think tank organisations.
The release pointed out that the MLAs have been very encouraged by the high levels of support in all areas for the Falkland Islands and our right to self determination.
In effect a number of US Congressmen have expressed explicit support for the Falklands' rights, and we will continue to work together to advance the rights of Falkland Islanders to live in peace free from harassment and bullying.
The Falklands' delegation now moves on to the second phase of their US visit before the trip concludes in New York for the annual Special Committee on Decolonization (C24).

Hmmmm are you going to get a spanking now gollum from your mistress for not doing more.
But I thought neutrality meant support for Argentina, that's what we are always told. Does that mean that neutrality means just that, neutrality, they don't feel a need to get involved, but support 'self determination'.
MLA are now playing Argentina at their own game, can't be good so near to the election, how will they respond I wonder?
I bet that makes the front page of the Peronist press......
