Bolivian president Evo Morales revealed on Friday that Pope Francis told him that there are three pending issues in the continent, Puerto Rico, Falklands/Malvinas and Bolivia's sea outlet claim. The pope has been recognized by all sides as the 'bridge' which helped bring together Cuba and the US after over half a century of mutual distancing. Read full article

    They're the most important issues?

Not poverty..... or corruption.... or the erosion of democracy in places like Venezuela and Argentina?

Bolivia you don't stand a chance. Neither does Argentina. Puerto Rico has voted multiple times and can pretty much declare independence whenever they want.

Female reproductive rights are not a massive issue in Latin America?
Oh no, not when the Vatican has more control over your womb than you do!

What an arse of a man!

lf Argentina is now Bolivia's bestest mates, they can donate some of(the land that they stole from Paraguay)& give that to Bolivia.
That should appeal to Argentina's southern ltalian roots.
Give something that you don't own to someone that you don't really like & of course you can always demand “dialogue” to get it back again(if it was found to be valuable after giving it away, of course!). lolz.
    @2 ilsen,
    My thoughts exactly.
    None of their business.

This is hardly surprising. Malvinismo, as we have seen, is a matter of faith and doctrine rather than fact and reason. It's no wonder that the Pope, as a world leader in the wool over the eyes business, and an Argentine to boot, would take an interest.

His Holiness, an Argentine citizen, should leave the matter of the Falklands/Malvinas alone.

Perhaps HIS HOLINESS would do better to deal with the paedophilia and sexual abuse that runs rampant in the catholic church.

I would imagine that the FALKLANDS are predomentely Church of England. So who cares what the Pop says.

There are Catholics in the Falkland Islands and their loyalty is just as firm as other Christians!

In Tudor times this was referred to as “the Bloody question”.

Is your first loyalty to your country, or to some foreign heretic in Rome?

So this 'brother' pope is a bridge is he?

I do hope they put his feet in a concrete bridge pile and then stretch him 'over the sea to the Malvinas' [WTF they may be] using a collar around his neck. 12 inches of stretching ought to see his eyes pop out of their sockets, his tongue go black and his heart explode.

Two positives in one go: we get rid of this meddling arsehole and he gets to see there is no god.

    GREAT.

    Gordo @ 5 and 8

    Exactly!

However, as far as I know the Falklands were not mentioned in Vatican press releases; perhaps Morales misunderstood or just made it up.

”The fact that during his speeches he said there is a pending issue is a clear support (of Bolivia)”, argued Morales”

Mr Cowpat,(copyright @ Chris R, sometime within the last few years) I have a muck spreader you can live in.

The fact that he said there is a pending issue means he is neutral on the matter .

An indication of support for Bolivia would surely be qualified if the Maninwhite said 'I support Bolivia's case.'

That such a nuance is not understood by a president, indicates that Bolivia are going nowhere fast.

He does however, have the sense to go to the ICJ but Chile aren't going to lose, especially with dung flies buzzing around Cowpat's head.

“Brother Pope, I don't know if it is important to mention it, but you told me there are three pending issues in Latin America and the Caribbean: Puerto Rico, Malvinas and the sea for Bolivia”.
Sounds like a typical SA non statement, tell the person what you would prefer them to say rather than what they said. Where did the Pope say this, looks like Morales wanted the Pope to mention these things.
They do realise that the majority of the UK is not Catholic don't they, he would be better off asking the Queen to mediate if he wanted the head of a church to get involved.

Don't know what this cult leader thinks he's going to do about the Falklands. Perhaps he's going to tell Kirchner that argieland's attempt at colonialist imperialism hasn't had any success in just short of 200 years. Time to give up. Does he think the people of the Falkland Islands or the people of Britain are going to give in? There are, of course, always a few bad apples. The names Betts, Gott and Wilson spring to mind. Go home, Papa, and mind your own business!
