CFK and Morales unveil a 16 meters high statue of independence heroine
The presidents of Argentina and Bolivia have unveiled a statue of Bolivian war of independence heroine Juana Azurduy. The 25-ton, 16-meter-high statue replaces a controversial statue of Christopher Columbus that was taken down in 2013 after ninety years. Read full article

Disclaimer & comment rulesI always support the advancement of memorials and histories that celebrate women. However I'm always disturbed when counties also try to play down their histories - especially the unsavoury aspects - Argentina can't deny it owes its existence to Colombus.

The statue was saved by the action of a the italina community and s few democratic politicina and it will be moved to a new place by the river looking to Europe.
Peronism has a peculiar and fascist way to see history. Even Wiston CHurcill has no a single mention in Buenos Aires city or in the rest of the country.
I'm surprized she didn't have a hammer and sickle in her hand.

The majority of Argentines are descendants of Europeans so you would need to wipe out the majority of Argentines. You just don't think through your prejudices do you?

Take a look at the statue and then at what I assume to be a painting. Look at that face. I visited a Indian reservation in Iguazu and it was like going back to the 1800s. No running water, no sewage disposal, the people were wearing Tshits and shorts from the 80s donated by the USA and they were absolutely filthy, no roads, 1 little string of electricity to 1 hut, and a school provided by the Germans. The still trapped animals to eat!

At her death she was a forgotten pauper, but about a century later she was remembered as a heroine. She was awarded the rank of general of the Argentine Army in 2009.

Well educated Spaniards, and many many other modern Europeans are moving to South America looking for jobs and more opportunities.
With their better work ethic, better education, solid business experience, and business connections, they're getting all the best jobs!
Complacent, lazy, local slugs like Nostrils and Paul Cedron are being pushed aside.
By comparison, they have nothing to offer but arrogance and resentment.
It's an easy choice for employers.
No wonder Paully and Tobi are angry and xenophobic!!
