    1981?

    2015(a few hours ago..)
    Jeremy Corbyn has said he “can't think” of any circumstances in which he would back the deployment of British troops abroad.

    “Can we afford to have global reach as a country of 65 million people on the North West coast of Europe? Should we not be more interested in supporting international law and working with the UN rather than deciding that we as a small country can actually afford this global intervention role.”

    Lucky the Falkland Islands are not abroad but part of the UK.

    Thanks Marcos for giving a reason for continuation of the status quo.

    @6 Paul-cartonero/Markos Aleppo
    Jeremy Corbyn is merely a contender for the Leader of a political party, in opposition, that can't be elected before 2020.
    So he has almost zero influence on the status quo. You might as well give your dog another biscuit.

    “A week is a long time in politics” -Harold Wilson (attr.)

    PS: The Falkland Islands are British.

    If Labour elect Corbyn, then they will go a generation without power as they did in the 70s to 90s. He is nowhere near mainstream enough to be elected. I'm sure that won't stop the Malvinistas having wet dreams about the prospect, but the funny thing is that supposed radicals in opposition have a curious habit of shifting to the centre when they actually take power. Probably because it is the civil service that runs the country, as seen in Yes (Prime) Minister.

    this moronic Troll would prefers to focus on the perceived resentments of 100 years ago, rather than the very real

    @6. In every country there are uneducated pricks. It appears that Britain has one (Corbyn). As the days pass, he changes his “policies”. Meanwhile, argieland already has more than 40 million uneducated pricks. Or, in your case, uneducated limp pricks.
    @14. Certain that it is better to be what WE are instead of things that can be described with some of the following words. Bandits, criminal, corrupt, depraved, genocidal, ignorant, larcenist, mendacious, puerile, ridiculous, rough, stupid, scurrilous, senseless, treacherous, uneducated, vicious. Which countries could these descriptive terms be applied to? I think there's several in south america and one in the extreme north of the British Isles. Easily solved. Start with the smaller problem. Martial law. Withdraw whisky. Make batter illegal. Tailored biological agents. Once tested, we can use it on the bigger problem.
    @16. It's been noted before. Whilst it might be one, “Vestige” isn't worth a fart. It's unfortunate that people respond to it. I have to admit I've been guilty. We need a catchall put down.

    Why so desperate to usurp our country, Vestige?
    We couldn't possibly generate enough money to pull your useless, corrupt, infantile, untrustworthy country out of the depression that its descending into, even if we wanted to.
    Which we don't.
    Being sarcastic about the old empire will do you no good.
    lt served its purpose & was relevant in its day.
    More relevant than your poor excuse for a country is now.
    What you have to get through your thick head is that:-
    1) You have no rights in the Falklands.
    2) You have never had any rights in the Falklands.
    3) We don't like you.
    4) We don't like your country's lies.
    5) We don't want to have anything to do with you.
    6) We certainly do not want to be a part of Argentina.
    Are you getting the message?
    Actually, Nostrils was really the only troll here who understood this.
    He/she didn't want to have anything to do with us.
    Which suits us just fine.

    @30 vestige

    “ the Chagosians get their 'democratic' home back. ”

    You will be pleased to know that this British Government is carefully considering options to enable the Chagossians to return, announced a month ago.

    it seems that those of us 'amateur' Britons who support the right of the Chagossians to return home, with jobs and supporting infrastructure, have had more effect than Timerman who has done jack squit to help the Chagos Islanders. They were stupid beyond belief to hope that ineffective Argentina would help them and I have told them so.

    However us 'amateur non-politician' Brits are having a gradual effect.

    At least there is a chance that the Chagos people will go back. No chance that Argentina will colonise the Falklands.
