Argentine president Cristina Fernández has formally accepted an invitation by her Cuban counterpart Raul Castro to attend a mass Pope Francis will deliver in the Plaza de La Revolucion in Havana on September 20. Read full article

Elaine - i doubt he will ask many questions at all. The best way to avoid weekly ridicule is to let others ask the questions. Comrade Corbyn will share the humiliation out like the generous guy he is.
But surely as party leader of the opposition he cannot avoid it. The Prime Minister has to answer questions from him first and then it goes down the line.
Tom, of the Tom and Jerry duo, has already issued a 'watch your back' statement. Honestly, this is not South American politics.
@11
The leader of the oppositon gets to ask 6 questions but there is no obligation to use them all and my understanding is that they can be delegated. Of course no serious PM-in-waiting would ever actually do this but my guess is that Corbyn will. It will make him look generous and new-broom while allowing him to avoid the weekly kicking that Miliband got by Cameron and IDS got by Blair. Whether it is perceived by the electorate as self-confident or cowardly will remain to be seen.
@15 You may be right about Corbyn, he has bailed on the Andrew Marr Show tomorrow. Why would he do that? Do you think he has a touch of the Alexis Tsipras'? He never expected to win either.
@16
Exactly. Anyway he was too busy singing the Red Flag with Billy Bragg at the Refugee Solidarity rally today to be bothered putting a shadow cabinet together from the people who haven't yet refused him. I guess he'll do it tomorrow when Marr is on.
Anyway if you were selling what Corbyn is selling would you want to go on telly and have it forensically dissected? I'm guessing he will stick to communicating with us through Owen Jones' You Tube channel or its equivalent. If the BBC thought the Tories and SNP had it in for them then they ain't seen nothin yet.
Leaving aside all the questions about his policies Corbyn will be 71 in 2020. I can't see any way he will be elected. I will be astonished if he even gets a chance to compete in an election. The worst bit is it will give the Malvinistas wet dreams and make them think there is a section of British public opinion that has doubts about the Falklands.
Unless he sticks his fingers in his ears and shouts laaa laa, Corbyn will be unable to follow up all his ideas without some compromise with the rest of the Labour Party.
His ideas of talking to Argentina over the Falkland Islands are going to be hard to follow through if Falkland Islanders are allowed to talk to him, and I hope some will attend the Labour conference and put their case re: the history, how the Islanders have made the Falklands a success to compensate for the sacrifice given in attaining their freedom, and surely the very fact that the Islanders have much that is run by the public sector (legacy of Lord Shackleton), should be explained to Corbyn.
Given that he rightly supports the return of the Chagos islanders to their home, I cannot see him being credible to the British people by selling out the Islanders into a joint sovereignty deal.
I imagine he will want power mainly to achieve his anti austerity agenda(he's admitted he won't be able to abolish the monarchy or get the UK out of NATO), but with his anti military agenda, I can't see him getting support from the electorate to get into power.
Also his pro immigration stance is not going to sit well with Labour Voters who voted UKIP last time, unless immigrants are more evenly spread over the UK (i'e. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland taking more ).
To be fair, none of us know much abt the man,
He was a back bencher, never had power or responsibility never held a post, and has always remained far left and kept himself to himself,
I myself can only give an opinion, on what I have read,
But I do understand that in 1975 he voted to come out of the EU,
Now as long has he does not change his mind, his policy may well help us to come out,
Then again we know not yet what his polices will be,
They say, he has yet to find a shadow cabinet,
The Labour Party ought to have a Mass to celebrate the election of Jeremy Corbyn as their new leader and invite the Pope to officiate. Thus he, the Holy Father, can prove he is totally neutral in the matter of the Falklands/Malvinas.
Obviously, the above is posted with my tongue in my cheek - I am slowly being convinced the Pope is involved in some sort of conspiracy concerning the British archipelago in the South Atlantic.
Looks like the Pope took the hint dropped by Fidel and Raulzito. CFK will be getting on her knees for more than praying.....gobble, gobble, gobble...oops, don't get it on my dress!
Corbyn is an advocate of a united Ireland. Could he kindly explain how he would deal with the civil war this would trigger? Does he prefer to ignore the murderous consequences of his actions? Is this yet another example of his facile, simplistic, right-on Marxist solution to every problem?
A poll released today predicts the Labour Party are out for the next two elections. I doubt we will ever have to test Corbyn. I also doubt he will remain long term as leader of the Labour Party.
@37 Reekie
Who even suggested it would be a problem ? or did your feeble brain come to that conclusion all on its own ?
The Pope might even be looking forward to the meeting....while he's speaking to the 'faithful' ones, CFK could crawl under his robes and gobble away .....taking the Pope to Paradise on Earth...
And, you still haven't replied to my question about why you remain in Canada, enjoying the benefits of a serious country, while you praise the political systems in Argieland and Brazil ?? What's the matter with you ? Are you a coward, or just plain stupid ?
It seems the yanks are worried that somebody is going to be nasty to The Dope of a Pope” when he starts his visit to the States on the 22nd September.
However they have already stopped 'something', what it is we are not told, I wonder if they know themselves?
They didn't kill the first one, are you saying they have improved and are capable of killing the second one?
Have a bit of faith! It seems I have more faith than you and I am an atheist.
Ha, ha, ha.
PS
The Secret Service would be destroyed if The Dope was injured, never mind killed.
But would his death really matter?
It would be marvellous for The Dope as he would get to see 'The Boss', isn't that a good thing for him personally or are you unsure IF there is an afterlife?
Look on the bright side: there would not be another argie Pope in our lifetime!

Funny how some posters here feel they have a right to where somebody has chosen to reside, and even feel like asking personal questions that are not in the least related to the news.

Really funny. I asked you why, while you live in Canada, praise the Argie and Brazzo governments ? that is not personal, I'm simply questioning a contradictory statement made by you, referring to the issue being discussed at the time. Now, if you fell offended by being exposed as an idiot, it's your problem.
And just fyi, I live in São Paulo - which is in Brazil, in case you don't know - and I get up when I feel like it.
