    Another great step toward peace in Latin America through mutual recognition of the parties involved, far from the state terrorist tactics of the past.
    Opportunities for all through fairer distribution of wealth will be a condition to build durable stability in the sub continent.
    Of course, the U.S. will have to rethink its failed strategies of slash and burn to fight drug trafficking. Better controls of money laundering through large financial institutions would be a good start.

    Without US assistance this would not have happened.

    If it really happens...

    This is not the first time the FARC had made promises to lay down their weapons.

    And yes, assistance from the USA was very instrumental in bringing the terrorists to peace talks.h

    Unfortunately, I too, have little faith in this actually happening
    Sad, but true.
    Still, let's hope so. The combination of a strong Chile and a united Colombia could provide the leadership to bring South America forward.
    Pity my poor Venezuela, desperate times indeed!
