How could anyone be so stupid as to model anything like Portugal?

They've been a basket case since the 1700s.

    Sheesh.

@2. An “ally” or conquered country desperate to support a strong country determined to beat the French dictatorship? I don't doubt the bravery of Portuguese troops when given strong (British) leadership and training. Britain is, after all, THE PROPER LEADER. I don't see an honest European ally for Britain.

I think the Spanish, generally, are becoming 'resigned' to another generation of poverty...

If they go down this path they are likely to end up with the Uruguay 'solution' known as The Broad Front', aka by the majority as The Broad Fraud, for good reason.

Every little cluster of political wanabees huddled together and striving for a political appointment for their own crooks and the country goes to hell.

Bit like the Conservative coalition under Camoron with the, WTF was the other party called? I have managed to put it out of my mind: The Liberals, The Democrats, The Democratic Liberals, The Lib-Dumbs? Anyway they no longer exist above single figures, including the 'voters', ha, ha, ha.

Portugal is just the example to follow, locked as they are in the early 1800's, and the best solution for Spain.
