    Good to see George Holding in Gibraltar. His strong support for the right to self determination is much appreciated there and in the Falkland Islands.

    Careful there.
    The US has openly stated they want a British Gibraltar simply because Britain is more willing to grant access to USNavy ships to their ports, while Spain tends to complain depending on the ship.

    Us-UK partnership is based on ... the UK granting several wishes to the US. It´s simply a matter of interest and if for whatever reason it changes, they will stop their support also.
    I wouldn´t feel quite confident if I was a folk from Gibraltar.

    ps: nothing wrong with working together if they have common interests; the UK-US partnership has proven to be successful, though. And that is why I think Spain should STOP claiming Gibraltar: it is senseless, it is baseless, and it may endanger all the achievements they got with NATO.

    Come on Spain, be smart. Don´t be like Argentina.

    The status of Gibraltar is of no interest to the US. Once again the Brits are trying to embroil the US in its own self inflicted problems. Yet another reason we should dump the bums.

    Then I take it for a fact that the Congresswoman also is in full support of the growing petitions in Texas and Northern California for secession from the USA.

    I'm glad to finally see some Anglo lawmakers who are not simply puffing off Pecksniffian claptrap.

    All countries act in their own self interests so it is only natural that the US supports something. However that doesn't mean principles don't also apply.

    Hepatia, with an argentine education, can't even fathom how international relations works. The US for all its power still needs allies. Dependable allies like the UK, not schizo allies like Argentina.

    @2

    “Come on Spain, be smart. Don´t be like Argentina.”

    I believe Spain allows Russian ships at it's North African ports-a bit stupid if it ever wants support from the USA over Gibraltar.

    Like Argentina previously seeking to ally itself with Syria, Iran, Russia, China and Cuba. Not very smart if they need to deal with the USA.

    But of course, Argentina is now run by Macri, whereas Spain.............

    “The US has openly stated they want a British Gibraltar simply because Britain is more willing to grant access to USNavy ships to their ports, while Spain tends to complain depending on the ship”

    As you point out.

    This Congressman and woman should stay out of Europe. As members of the US government they should follow the advice given in this opinion piece:
