The St. Helena Government confirms that further safety and operational work is required prior to the Official Opening of the Island’s new Airport – and that this event has therefore been postponed. Wind shear seems a difficult problem the world over, but will be overcome.
A windbreak stops or reduces the wind speed in the immediate vicinity of the fence. However, the wind coming over the top of the fence gets dumped down approx. 10 times the distance away. So, if the fence is 15 feet high, the wind will land 150 feet from the fence.
