Ian Duddy has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Uruguay in succession to Ben Lyster-Binns, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Duddy will take up his appointment during October 2016.

 Mr. Duddy is no stranger to the River Plate since between 2003 and 2006 he was Political & Commercial Officer in the Buenos Aires embassy.

According to the official CV, Mr. Duddy joined the Foreign Office in 2000 and currently is in the UK Mission ot the UN in Geneva, Political Counselor & Head of Political and Human Rights & Press.

Before taking this post in 2011, and since 2008, he was Deputy Director (International) at the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, UK Intellectual Property Office. Between 2007 and 2008 he was Head of FCO Afghanistan Programs Team.

In 2006/2007, Australia National University, Canberra, Masters Degree. From 2003 to 2006, Buenos Aires Political & Commercial Officer and before at the FCO European Union & Western Balkans Policy Officer.
