The comprehensive Double Taxation Convention between Uruguay and the United Kingdom has taken effect from 1 January 2017.
United Kingdom´s Leave victory did not come as a great surprise, since the race was too tight, but that was the decision of the people and the economy is large and strong, admitted British ambassador in Uruguay, Ben Lyster-Binns, in a television interview.

Ian Duddy has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Uruguay in succession to Ben Lyster-Binns, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Duddy will take up his appointment during October 2016.
